CZ 75b SA
« on: February 22, 2019, 06:01:04 PM »
Ran across this 75b SA, I have noticed a couple different variations and I?m really interested in this one that looks like it has a full guide rod.  Anyone have or have you seen one with a full guide rod? I don?t know the SKU, they say it?s a 10 rd model.

Although this listing is for a 9mm, I?m thinking this is a picture of a SA in .40

Yes the one in picture is definitely the 40 S&W version with full length guide rod. The 9mm versions have no hole and short guide rod.

I saw a very long post, on another forum, about the manufacturing history of the Browning Auto 5 shotguns.  Listed, by year, what models, gauges, chamber length changes, safety style changes, serial numbers, etc., etc., etc. were made.  Helped me figure out the old Auto 5 I bought (graded poor condition by the gun store) was made in 1934.

Wouldn't it be neat to see something like that from CZ?  A manufacturing history to tell you not just what changes were made but when and why they were made.

You know, why do some manual safety pistols have one type of safety and others have different safeties, why do some have one size rear sight dovetail while others are different, why some pistol models have one style grip and others are different, why some have full length guide rods and others don't.  I think it would be neat and a fun read.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Completely agree, I have learned several or the variations and just like this post I had caught myself and figured out that they had incorrectly posted this picture as a 9mm.  I would love to see something like you?re talking about.  The modern variations are tough enough (99022/41, ShadowLine?s, Nitride shadow 2?s etc.) it?s really hard to find info in English on really old models.  I have a 78 short rail and I can?t find hardly any documented info on the 75-80 era....frustrating

So this model is exactly what I?m looking for, I love the full rail on the slide, full guide rod and full beaver tail.  Now I have to find one, and they seem scarce and have a 9mm barrel fitted.

There's a couple people here that have drilled the front of their 9MM slides and installed full length guide rods.  Should be able to do a search and look up the threads with pictures and details on how they did it.

True, beaver tail would be much more extensive and nothing I could do to replicate the slide rails.  To my knowledge the 75b SA .40 would be the only model to have all of these.  Since I want to do other work to it I think it would make the most sense to try and run one of these down first before I give up and do extensive mods to a 9mm and I still wouldn?t get the slide rails.

The 9MM SA I bought a few years back has the rails on the slide, the upswept beavertail.

Can't say all of them do, but this one did.

To my knowledge, all of the SA models have the beaver tail.  They also have the full rails on the slide(except the newer 9mm models where it?s kind of a faux full rail) if you zoom in on the rail on the picture I posted you?ll see that the rail is lower on the slide and more defined than the one on yours.  I think that style rail is specific to the .40 and the 75 Shadow tac II.  Most people probably don?t even notice it but it?s what I?m on the hunt for.

Here is a pic of the faux rail I have come across with the newer 9mm SA, if I ran across one like yours I would probably grab it.

A 40 cal Slide with a 9mm Barrel ?
Not sure just how well that'd work .... different size Breach-Face and all
Yeah, I like to see a Full Length Guide Rod on the 9mm too, but it doesn't seem (that) necessary
I have heard, that a few Owners have modded their 9mm B-SAs to run a FL Guide Rod
Since (I believe) CZ has stopped production of the B-SA, you may never see one (from the Factory) that way either
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Full guide rod would be nice, but it takes a backseat to the want for the beaver tail and slide rails. Necessary? Absolutely nothing about this is necessary, just looking for a new project
