What's the better pistol- CZ 50 or CZ 70?

Both pistols seem very similar in design and take the same magazines. However, I was watching Military Arms' Channel's video on the CZ 50/70 and came across this tidbit from a viewer. Don't know if this is true, but I have to ask- was the steel weaker on the CZ70? Did both guns have the same level of crasftmanship?



On that note, if you folks had to choose between either the 50 or 70, which one would you choose and why? Thanks!

I have a 50, but no 70, so I can't compare.

I'm just wondering what a reddish slide is? And are the wood grips a typical thing over there or a random aftermarket choice? I just pulled the trigger on wood grips to replace my broken originals, will be here soon I think.

I don?t follow the vz.50/70 much to remember off the top of my head the various collectible or shooter aspects of each version. I think the reddish slide referred to is what?s sometimes called a ?plum? color that occurs on blued  guns (including these CZ/vz guns). Here?s a batch of vz.50s/70s at a Prague store from a couple years ago. The prices can shoot up for nicer vz.50 models on Czech online sites sold for collectibility factor. As service pistols, the plastic grips are standard. Now, who wouldn?t prefer a vz. 82 in Mak over either vz.50/70 for a duty pistol? [emoji3]

In that picture above, why is the cz 50 more expensive then? Is the higher price reflecting the older age of that model?

I wouldn?t read too much into the individual prices...mostly due to the condition of a specific specimen is my guess. You can see a couple of vz.50 tags lying on the shelf with lower prices than the vz.70s below as well as some higher priced vz.70s.

These are generally low-value, outmoded pistols and this store has shelves of other surplus/antiquated brands-models also strewn about. 2000 K? even a couple years ago is about $90 and the prices shown include a standard 21% tax on most goods.

Yeah, they swapped out a few parts like the hammer.  Classic Firearms' CZ 70 page describes them the best.

I have both. They are basically the same pistol. I have an almost perfect condition vz. 70 and a good quality vz50. I would get the one in the best condition. If the same then flip a coin.
