It seems that way because there aren't any linkages to push a firing pin block up. Are early 75 triggers like the pre B's pretty smooth because they have no firing pin block? Or is this just a myth?

My best non aftermarket hammer trigger is on a CZ75 Compact with the firing pin safety mechanism instact.  Lucky, I guess.

I do have one Pre B CZ85.  Trigger pull is okay but definitely not as good as my P07/P09 (9MM) or the mentioned CZ75 Compact.

But you can put some time/effort in to improve them and adding money can shorten the time/effort.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

My polished stainless 75b had trigger work done at CZ Custom, and it has a better trigger than both my Shadow 2's and rivals (if not a tad better) than my Shadow Orange.

Hiya metal wonder nine guy and thx for your thread. I'd like to see Smecky and Stuart chime into an answer for ya,but my experience is yes they do. And agree with the other operators that if you invest energy, time, and money you can improve most any of them. I recall having asked Stu to remove a firing pin block in a gun as part of a project to improve the trigger action to my wishes and it was an improvement. Vaguely recall a conceal carry instructor mention such work is a non issue for a range piece but could pose legal issues if used in a self defense scenario, may or may not be fact.
And then the issue of what smoother trigger means to one operator verses another, much less one platform to another. So can a 8lb DA pull feel as smooth as a 4lb? I once described an omega decocker p-02 compacts as mushy and expects my smith to make it un-mushy..lol. One of the smoothest 75b's triggers I ran across was at a ranges rental counter so I assume that 10odd years of regular use can smooth out a trigger as well.Cheers

Smoothness/lack of grit varies from gun to gun, fpb or not. The benefit with the pre-b and Shadow is reduced travel and reset.

What reduces the travel and reset for the pre B? Less parts/linkages?

The B models need more travel to actuate the the fpb.

I can tell a difference in reset but not pull.

Is the reset shorter?

A tighter fitting disconnector will reduce the static reset distance, how far the trigger swings forward. Altering the leg of the sear will change the actual reset.

?tighter? in what way?  Which dimensions?

Frankly I?m more concerned with over travel which effects accuracy.

Umm, by reducing the static reset distance (how far the trigger goes forward).

The shorter the distance the trigger needs to move, the less chance the operator has to pull the shot. Which can increase accuracy.
