Dirty Pistola Pics:

Special thanks to Practical Shooter for his YouTube videos demonstrating how to break the 75 down and put it all together again.

Your gun is absolutely filthy. It is going to take you hours to clean it  :o
CZ are very resilient to dirt. My cleaning schedule for my SP-01 is at 1700 rounds, but I do add oil regularly.
Concerning the video, you are welcome, and am glad you took advantage of it.

It did take a minute or two, ha ha. I soaked it down in solvent (breakthrough) and wiped/brushed - several times. I let the parts sit in solvent overnight. I sprayed it all down with Super Slick, a dry lube from Lowes, and wiped dry. She's ready to run again.

When I was younger and fitter and could shoot 150 rounds/session/gun and 2 sessions per week, I could easily go 2000 rounds between cleanings using a light grease on everything on the P-09.  I still go too long between cleanings on the centerfire guns.  I've probably shot some really good 100 and 200 yard targets from a rest with a "dirty" gun.  I thought about it a lot when I first started shooting pistols.

I came up with the phrase, "No, I'm not gonna clean it, might ruin it" just to cover my experience with the P-09.  I shoot fewer rounds per week now, with .22 rounds about twice the rate of the center fire guns, and I clean them ALL more often and more thoroughly than I used to, as in 500 rounds for the Kadet and 1000 rounds for the centerfire guns.  Why, I even wipe the powder residue off the red dot sights now a little more often than I used to.  And clean my glasses.  All good.

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

This is neither here nor there, but I did a firearms instructor course with a Glock 21. I fired over 2,200 rounds while at the 80 hour course. I didn?t clean or lube one time. Not one single issue. Literally no problems whatsoever. That?s my new litmus test for guns I own.

Yes, I've come to think that I "need" frequent cleaning much more than my pistols. This is especially true with weapons on the range rotation. Carry rotation pistols are kept clean at all times - but even then, it's not entirely necessary. It's hard to get that basic training mentality out of your system. I'm pretty sure we wore out Army M16s more with intense, detailed, in-garrison cleaning than with actual live fire training. And before those days, I always kept my hunting long-arms highly maintained, but that was more for preservation than anything else. So, going 2000 rounds without maintenance was harder on me than on the trusty 75.
