75 Compact D versus 75 Compact
« on: March 10, 2019, 01:14:19 PM »
I'm looking for a new compact CZ for EDC and IDPA CCP Competition.  I've been using my Compact L, but I want To try something a little different.  I can get a 75 Compact for about $550.  A friend has a 75 Compact D (assume that it is a PCR) with half checker coco Volos and and 3 magazines for $700.  Opinions regarding the two?

I would get the new gun even if the used gun is a PCR at $700 it is over priced IMHO.

Yeah 7 bills for a used PCR is too much. They can still be had new for under $600 with 2 mags and extra mags can be had from Greg Cote for under $25 each. You could buy a new PCR order a couple additional mags and get the wood grips from CZ-USA if you really had to have those and still not crack $700.

Hiya Steel and thx for your thread and hope you are happy with which ever choice ya decide on. I can relate to wanting something different, having owned over a dozen ca's, but wanting to hear your thoughts about the features your next cz will have that you most want.
Have you shot the PCR before ? Is manual vs decocker a preference? Any adv or dis advantage of the rail for your uses to date or for future guns? Have you noticed any difference in say muzzle flip rail vs non rail? Any post factory mods on your L that you desire on the new gun?  Have ya done a close inventory of what the friends decocker version has as extras other than the wood grips and extra mag? Didn't your L come std with tritium sights? Still need that option? After investing 1500 in my EVO and needing to sell some guns I took a lot less than I asked for, so how motivated is your friend to make a deal? Good chance that somewhere between a dollar and 700 you can make a deal. Maybe see if you can go shooting with him as test it out and see how the platform feels to ya before you pull the investment trigger. Be well.

If you're looking for EDC, like comments above, I would recommend the PCR.  They are a little harder to find but still available for around $570.  Here is a link to a Gun Broker auction:

CZ Compact PCR
Sig Sauer P320
Ruger LCP
Others, etc.

Thanks for the input.  Looks like I'll get the Compact.  The steel frame will give me a little more weight for IDPA competition.  Will probably add some new sights and grips.  Eventually I may send it to CGW for their Pro Package.  The PCR is a great EDC, but it really doesn't give me any advantages over my Compact L.

Yeah, the Compact will be a slightly softer shooter.  I had the Compact and now have the PCR.  The PCR is no slouch by any means, though.
PTC, but Pine Mtn will always be home.

Could the ?Compact D? be one of the P0-1s with the slide marked ?75 D Compact? instead of P0-1?  Per the sticky in this sub forum due to demand CZ ran out of slides marked P0-1 and for a while substituted their European market slide marked as a ?Compact?.  The one I have is a great shooter and perfect size.  It?s a bit snappier than my full sized 85B, but that?s to be expected with the size and weight difference.  Regardless, it?s still fully manageable.

Price on the Compact went up $50 overnight and the the more I think about it the PCR isn't worth $700.  I going to get a Scorpion carbine instead.

I plan on using it for Steel Challenge.  Hopefully, it will scratch the CZ itch for awhile.  Our local IDPA club isn't on the PCC bandwagon yet.

I love my PCR but the P-01 99041 is all I shoot these days. My Glock buddies say the PCR is snappy af and I guess it is somewhat in comparison to the steel P-01.

Enjoy
