Also, NO CZ manual safety can be engaged with the hammer in the half cock or hammer down position.  If it does, you need to call CZ USA and talk to them - your gun is broke.

At a gun show today, I came across a 75B for sale. Taking a closer look at it, this particular item engaged its safety at the half cock notch for some reason. Out of curiosity, does that mean there's something wrong in the firearm, and what part(s) need to be fixed or replaced?

I think all of my safety models will engage at half cock except for my Short Rail which doesn’t have a half cock position

Is that supposed to happen for all CZ safety models? I thought the safety only engaged with the hammer fully cocked back.

Yes, some folks like having a round chambered with gun on safe.  Lightens the DA pull

That is my understanding. Don't believe my 75B safeties will engage in the half cocked position.

Hiya Metal wonder nine guy and thx for the thread. I hope the issue did not affect your purchase of said cz75. And not an expert on the subject of advantages or disadvantages of keeping half cocked.Dont get confused by it tho. But my cz long slide,97b,tactical sport, and checkmate all in half cock allow the manual safety to be thumbed up and prevent trigger pull, but all have competition hammers. Its a moot point on my cz's with decocker of course. If I every had such a concern on the spot,i.e.. gun show and considering buying. I'd google cajun, czc,or cz-usa and talk to a smith for my answer. My guess as to why the manual can't help you,is that the basic starting position is to choose hammer up or down. Maybe where, don't go off half cocked originated from lol.Be well.

Thanks for your replies, folks!

Went into a LGS today and looked at a brand new CZ Shadow 2 with a safety to test the safety. Same thing happened- the safety engaged at both the full cock and half cock positions. Interesting thing to find out....

I checked both my RAMI and 75C.  Manual safety will not engage when in the half cocked position.  The user manual, under engaging the safety,  is silent on the half cocked position under the that heading.

Maybe a design change at some point?

8 different 75 versions and only the SP01 Shadow will allow putting on safe at half cock.

Even though swapping in a performance hammer will allow the safety to engage while decocked, please only use the safety at full cock.  CZ would repair a new pistol that behaves as described (not sure about the Shadow and more tricked out stock guns).

Someone else can explain what extra wear might occur if pulling the trigger while the safety is engaged at less than full cock as have been done in a few older threads.

The weird thing is that this 75B had a standard ring hammer. Plus this 2017 made pistol was used, so I doubt that CZ would cover that 'defect' in a used pistol.

Went to another gun shop on the way home, and another Shadow 2 allowed the safety to engage at half cock. The standard SP-01 and 75 compact that this shop had did not allow the safety to be turned on at the half cock notch. So right now I am very confused.

I'll add a bit to that confusion. I mentioned the SP01 Shadow as being the only 1 I have that will but didn't mention the SP01 is one that won't. The others are different age and types of 75B including a polished stainless, blued, nickel and glossy blue.

My CZ 75 Compact will only allow the safety to be engaged at the fully cocked position.
