Who keeps one at home? You can see three 9 mm rounds that were fired in this sample.

We use versions of this type of clearing barrel in enclosed areas, such as towers. We also use the bullet pad, which is a Kevlar flat pad with a target in the middle, "Place Muzzle Here", for transports and such. The outdoor clearing barrels are exactly that - 55 gallon barrels in an angled frame full of sand.
I have never used one at home, but it's not a bad idea at all.
