Tok - Did I read somewhere that you had purchased the Dawson/CGW night sights? If so, opinions?

I have two PCR's. One from Gunbroker and one from the classified on this forum.

After trying different sights I settled on the flat black rear and fiber optic front from the CZ Custom Shop. Both of my PCR's have these sights.

Hiya and whoever started the thread thx. And those pcr's in last post are great looking and prolly good performing. The wood looks more smooth vs textured, slippery ever? shoot with gloves? And the green fiber optic really is a great feature, especially for eyes over 50, Be well.

I too am looking for new sights for my PCR with a blacked out rear. I?m curious if you carry your PCR with the FO front sight? I?m torn between the FO front and the Truglow TFX front from CZC. Have you used the Truglow sight? Why did you choose the FO sight? Do you think the FO sight would be a good carry option etc. I?m coming up on 50 now and I just need a more visible, larger front sight. Thank you for your time.

I am still not sold on night sights in general. The few sets of night sights that i have experience with have all been a compromise to my preferred comp sight set up (flat black rear sight w/ FO front). I foresee that i will need more experience to come to any strong conclusion on the matter.

As to the CGW PCR night sights, i like them compared to the factory CZ night sights i have tried. The dots are smaller and sharper. The front sight dot is a bit larger than the rear for some contrast. The rear notch also seams wider than some. I like that they are low profile and smooth so that they will be less likely to catch on something. They also have a white ring around the front sight for daylight shooting.

A significant factor for me is that they seam like they will make good daylight sights. Due to the little chance that i will encounter an opportunity to use them in low light in SD/HD or in range shooting how they work in day light is important.

Do to their design the rear sight dose not come all the way to the rear of the slide. So you loose a bit of potential sight radius. I am unclear on the value of the small amount of sight radius that you would gain from a rear sight that meets the rear of the slide. I guess some might bring up the price but night sights are expensive in general.

I am also interested in the CZC PCR sight options, too bad i only own one PCR.

Thanks Tok, there is nothing like first hand experience especially something so subjective as sights.

I feel the same way regarding night sights. On the one hand they could be helpful in certain conditions but on the other they don't show up as well as good three dot sights in daylight. For range duty and competition outside nothing beats FO and I have those on my range guns but the PCR's primary role will be SD and the Dawson/CGW sights seem to be a good low profile design with a wide deep rear notch and large front profile as long as the front dot is easy to pick up in daylight.

I guess I'm sold on them even though they are the most expensive sight set I've bought til now. Now I need a pusher cause I wouldn't dare bang on them with a hammer. On the positive side, for me at least, the PCR doesn't need anything else to be the ultimate defensive handgun. That trigger is coming along fine without even shooting it. It has smoothed out with dry firing then the last couple of days I've left it cocked and it seems the DA is a bit lighter or my finger is getting stronger. ha

I'm completely opposite of your dilemma. I own a PCR with the Pro-Package and contemplating on buying a P-01. Decisions, decisions.

I've had a p-01 for a few years and it's been my every day carry. when I saw a PCR in the shop I decided I should have it. I know some may consider it boring to have two handguns that are so much a like but if you find the p-01 perfect for you why get another handgun that is completely different? Wouldn't you be going backwards? ;D Besides, for some strange reason I am shooting the PCR a little better than the P-01.

Well, here I am with no pictures.  Haven't even shot it yet but I intend to remedy that this Sunday.

I've been dry firing it with an o-ring quite a bit and the trigger has smoothed out. I've given a lot of thought about what if anything I want to change and the more I think about it there isn't much to do to it after all. At first I was going to send it to CGW and get the full monty now I'm considering the role it will play as self defense and feel the trigger was designed for this and it is well suited as is.

The DA is 12 lbs and if it  were 9 or 10 that might be more ideal, the SA is just under 5 lbs with a nice enough break, not sure I want it any lighter. So I'll shoot it and perhaps consider a 15 or 16 lb hammer spring but could live with it the way it is.

Sights are another matter though not as horrendous as some claim. They work though the choice of the dot paint is a poor one, IMO. I may try to drill it out and replace the dots with bright white. White always worked for me. I like the looks of the Dawson night sights for the PCR though I would be quite happy with white dots. Anyone have these? What is the sight picture like?

Have a JM Custom Kydex OWB 1 straight drop on order. This will be my 3rd or 4th holster from them and they are always without issue and a fine quality made holster. If I carry this over my smaller PM9 or PPS I won't be concerned about it showing as much as ease of draw.

The only wisdom I really have is consider the purpose and let that be your guide. bleep this is a nice handgun.

Question for you on the DA 12lb. pull weight.  Is that in the uncocked position?  If not, any idea what that trigger pull weight would be in the uncocked?  Thinking about using this as my primary conceal carry.  Thanks
