What kind of value ?
« on: March 13, 2019, 09:36:03 PM »
Father left me with a German world war 2 Luger... dated 1942 with german swastika .. all the parts have the  same number..Has a black holster which looks like it has Stuttgart on it with the date 1934... Never really thought of what kind of value this might have... anyone out there know the value of these? what they might go for... ?  Looks pretty clean.. no major issues... does shoot, no firing pin issues... I dont really use it at all.. more a show and tell deal for those who want to check it out..

I'll usually put watch flags on GunBroker listings to see what they sell for when I am trying to value a firearm.

searching the completed auctions is a good way to see what buyers are willing to pay (and what they aren't willing to pay).

It's really none of my business, but if my father left me something, it is priceless.

No monetary value high enough to make me even consider selling it.

It's a Luger and not a P38?

Maybe that's because this forum is focused on CZ's and your first post asked the value on an antique German gun. Why here?

Maybe because I am NEW and just trying to figure everything out here.  I also have another thread answering on the CZ kadet and a opener for new members also.

I just noticed this section said 'OK, so there ARE some other firearms BESIDES the CZ, let's talk about 'em.' ...and this is another firearm and thought it was a good place for this.... Was I wrong?

I own a CZ 75 High polished  and a CZ 75 Matte finish and a  CZ 75 omega...and thats ALL I own...

So I am PRO CZ all the way...  Give the 'Newbie' a break....

Rmach, not sure how to answer directly under your post, maybe thats not how it works so I will reply here.... It is DEFINITELY a Luger.

Tell me... how do I add a attachment to show it and also a unidentifiable mag that was sold to me but sure doesnt look like a CZ mag on another thread?

I was hoping someone could identify it.

Hiya wingding and no danger and thanks for clarifying. To get a pic of it up read the sticky that is near the top of the forum topics list, they have the suggestions, screenshots etc. I tried but failed but sure you can figure it out. And if you had a cabelas near you,I'd take it their to see if they can put you in the ballpark value wise. Be well.

Matching numbers with swastika on a early 1940s  P08 Luger can easily run into the thousands of $$$. Probably min would be $600-$800. The  early 1900 to pre WW2  are the most valuable, some going as high as $12,000.  The holster could be worth a couple of hundred $$$ if in excellent condition, $25 to $50 for good.
