Need opinion on 75B Glossy Blue
« on: March 17, 2019, 01:16:01 PM »
I have an opportunity to make an offer on a 75B that has the gloss blue finish. However, it has no factory box or accessories. It comes with only one mag and aftermarket grips. Finish looks fresh with no wear.

I have tried to google information, but it appears as if these are fairly rare.  Can someone give me a guesstimate of approximate value of this pistol without the factory accessories?

I appreciate it. Thanks.

They are fairly uncommon in the B model. I would primarily be concerned about the condition of the finish. Factory box and accessories wouldn?t matter much to me. My personal premium on that would be about 25% above new retail....that?s just pulling a figure off the top of my head while having a beer in a pub [emoji3]. What year is it? Good luck with it.

Hiya bigride and thx for your thread. I'm with the operator tipping a pint, to guess retail plus 25percent, as its a glossy. And you'd be stuck, investment wise and if you ever parted with it,have to wait for a collector to recoup your money. Are you looking to keep it as a safe queen? Resell for profit? Projects in mind for it?
The condition of the bluing grades its value similar to the condition of a coin. With guns holds true not only for the gun,but if you have the factory grips, factory mags, factory box, tools included etc. I was surprised to find out that a mint factory 6in colt python I'd invested in that the factory box alone was worth over 200 dollars lol. And after searching for a mint early issue sig p210, for the 2 grand invested I had to settle for no factory box and only one factory mag. And you mentioned the chance to make an offer, is this a gun auction then? If you've been wanting one for months or years, its easy to make the call and over invest to acquire something you want. If you've already stashed your 2 million worth of google away, I'd say go for it and enjoy the purchase while you can. Be well.

I just sold one of my 75B Glossy Blues. Like new with box and both mags. $625 local but listing was on Armslist and I had 3 other offers that included $30 shipping and whatever thier FFL was charging them. No one asked for lower price. All on the day I listed it.

Had 3 and have 1 1/2 left. Use the lower for permanent Kadet and sold the upper for $350.

The frame on my Kadet has been used a lot for years and doesn't show any more wear than any of my others which include nickels, polished stainless and the newer park type finishes.

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

At one time, several years back, you could order a high-gloss blue 75B through the CZ Custom Shop, and it was an extra $100 or so.  Don't know if that is still possible, but I'd ask them before hunting around for a used one.

(I've owned several high-gloss blued 75B and one 85b -- all quickly sold.  The blued finish is beautiful and the ones I had were almost as nice as the old S&W blued guns, but they're a bit like the highly polished stainless guns -- they will show every little blemish and scratch, and while beautiful, they're not a gun for carry, as much as a gun for showing off.)

I much prefer the satin nickel finish. Had a Compact in that finish, and still have an 85 Combat.  They never showed wear.  (Just had to clean it about once a year using Flitz , which is more a chemical than abrasive cleaner.)

VERY true.

Had one in the compact and sold it off, and should not have.  These appeared at a show both compact AND FS for about $325 about 14 years ago.  Should have bought both but did not have the cash flow in that day.

It all depends.  If just for collecting, is it worth more to you than a new one?  Likely.  If collecting, do YOU care about the box?  Others will if you try to sell it.  So... its all up to you.  Likley more than a new one, but I personally wouldn't pay much more.  You  might choose to.

Love my glossy blue 85Combat. Have had this gun since new, made in 2003. Nothing like a real blued pistol, and the wear marks on the edges and high points from use just adds to the character of the gun.

Thanks for the input. I decided to pass on the gloss blue 75. Instead, I found a CZ 83 in very good condition with factory box, mags, and paperwork...a non-import. I couldn't pass it up as these 83's seem to be getting more difficult to find.

CZ-82s have generally been pretty easy to find, but the CZ-83s have been much more scarce.  I think you'll enjoy the CZ-83.  They'll continue to be scarce, so it'll probably hold its value pretty well.

Appears to be 2011. This thing is immaculate. The owner had two of them. He is keeping the better one. That must be one pristine 83 in his safe. How about a picture or two? Disclaimer: Cell phone pics.

I am amazed at the target that came with this pistol. It's no Shadow 2, but at 25 meters, she ain't half bad.

It's import marked.  It says CZ-USA on the right side of the slide.  Regardless, it's a very nice pistol.

My point was that it wasn't a surplus import through a non-CZ source like Century. I understand that the CZ83 was manufactured overseas, imported to the States, and distributed through CZ USA. Thank you for clarifying my imprecise description.

Oh.  I thought that perhaps you were thinking that it was purchased overseas by a soldier and then brought back to the US.  I have a CZ-85 that's not import marked.  Most likely this is how it came to the US, but of course there's always the possibility that the importer missed marking an individual pistol.

The 83 is nice and they shoot great. One of 2 guns (of MANY) that I sold and regret was an 83 in .32. Should have kept my .32 and sold my .380 only because the .32 are like finding hens teeth nowadays, The other was a CZ 25 year anniversary. Originally bought 3 and sold 2 to get the best price and had to sell the 3rd one when I needed the money. Now you can't find those either or if you do they are outrageous.

Great buy on the 83. I have never gone wrong with a CZ purchase just with selling them ;-)
