This morning's range trip was a total diversion, a fun day. 27F air temp, but no wind and sunny, so I knew it would warm up quickly. Unlike me. I decided to warm up with Rem UMC ammo from a bucket, 115 gr FMJ, not usually my choice for precision shooting, but, today, it was fine.
The range folks had hung some steel targets that I thought would be fun with the UMC ammo, so I warmed up (literally) shooting the 12" wide plate at 25 yards. It was stationary and I coudn't tell whether I was hitting it or not, but I knew the hits would be visible in the video if I didn't mess things up too badly.
After the 25 yard steel 10 rounds, I went to timed fire bullseye practice with fair results, but the steel was calling, so, after 60 rounds of bullseye practice with surprisingly good results shooting the UMC ammo, I went back to the steel, even trying the flipper and a hanging pig. Here is a short video, all at normal speed with no shooting cuts except when I had to move out of position to get an angle on the flipper that only rotated 90 degrees when I hit it.
https://youtu.be/-qTvJskxBLoI don't know if this is a "good" result or not. Looked good to me, but I don't have any experience with this type of shooting. It's fun. Maybe if I turned on my electronic ear muffs I could hear the dings when the bullets hit the steel. Nope, if I started hearing a series of dings I would loose focus and start missing shots.
All I can say is that the P-10F is perfect for this type of shooting, after some break in and a little work on the trigger. I am really liking the striker trigger. It has enough feel for me to control well without even thinking about it. I am enjoying it so much, that I am likely to have some problems at first when I go back to a hammer gun, even the Kadet. This has been a good weekend for me and the P-10F. I may not shoot the P-09 or P-07 much this year. Pretty sure I will be spending my time with the striker guns and the Kadet, with a little 97B"E" time thrown in for old time's sake.
I am far from eliminating all of the flinches and trigger jerks that come from adapting to a new gun, but I am making progress.
