P07 or 75B in 40?
« on: March 25, 2019, 07:43:21 PM »
Have a hankering for a CZ in .40 S&W while they can still be found.  Leaning to the 75B since I have a number of CZs in 9(P07, P09, SP-01, P-01, and PCR).  Advice?

Hiya J lee and thanks for the thread. I vote neither, its a 9mm family already, you know the redheaded step child is destined for trouble. On the possibility of a box of 40 cal ending up in my ammo can with the 9mm alone. If you need to go big go 10mm or 45cal and commit to it. I think the current family unit has needs, say 2000bites mean rounds for each platform. Cheers.

I just went on a little binge picking up a P-07 and P-09 in 40 S&W.  Since they discontinued the 40 S&W P-07 first I bought that one first.  Then I did a little looking and bought a NIB P-09 40 S&W for $400 +++.  I couldn't pass it up.  I already had a 75B in 40 S&W that I bought in 2016 so that was taken care of.

The 75B is a smoother and softer pistol to shoot in my opinion, but that one has a little love from CZC.  I hope that this helps.

I carry my .40 S&W P07 just about every day.  I have a couple P01 Omegas in 9MM, a CZ75 Compact 9MM and even one of those CZ75 Compacts with the P01 style frame.  And I carry the P07 .40.

Reliable, accurate, feels good in my hand.  Hols 13 rounds of hot 135 grain hollow points with a spare magazine of 17 more on my left hip.

A 9 just can't push that weight bullet at the same speed as a .40.  The 9 would be 3 more rounds but I'm not sure the numbers add up in the 9's favor just on round count alone.  Before we get the 9MM is just as effective as any other handgun cartridge I'm old enough to remember the first time the FBI and the scientific studies made the same claim back in the early 80's.  Time, as they say, will tell.

I also remember not long after Sandy Hook.  I'd just bought a .40 S&W M&P FS and I could go to Walmart and buy boxes of hollow points when 9MM and .45 ACP ammo was gone off the shelves.  I reload .40 now, so that's not as much of a problem as it was then.

Good luck, with which ever model you buy.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Thanks.  I have one 40 cal, a Glock 23 Gen 4 that I shoot as well as any of my Glock 9s and actually better than some of them.  Like shooting CZs more which is why I'm considering a CZ 40 cal. I do handload for 4 pistol rounds(.357, .44mag, .45acp, and 9mm).  If I do get another 40, plan to order dies for my Dillon 550 and load for the 40 also.  Sounds like the P07 might be a better option if I decide to carry since I have a few holsters for my 07 9mm.  Same size right?  How does the 07 hold up in the 40?  Would shoot mainly lighter target hand loads with the occasional HSTs for carry practice.

Added:  Have always wanted a classic 75B.  I'm just not sure.  Feeling rushed due to availability problems sure to come.  Maybe I do need both, as well as another P09.

I have a P-07 in 40/357 sig and really like it. Lightweight and easy to conceal yet is easy to shoot.  The fact you can pick them up new for $400 right now makes it even better.

My P07 and P09 in .40 S&W shoot almost exclusively butt kicking loads (135 grain Nosler hollow points on top of a pretty good charge of Blue Dot).  The cheaper load for it is a Missouri Bullet Co. 140 grain bullet on top of Herco, which shoots to the same point of aim as the Nosler hollow points.

Shooting the Noslers is like shooting a snub nosed .357 magnum.  Muzzle blast, muzzle flash, recoil and empties tosses further away than any other semi-auto I shoot.  The P07 has not, so far in 6 or 7 years, been affected by that.

I've bought some 155 grain hollow points and some 180 grain lead bullets but haven't gotten around to working up loads yet.

I had a 75B in .40 and thought it was the best platform for a .40 that I had ever experienced.  I was forced to part with it in a financial crunch.  I am currently working to save up to get it back.  Love that gun.

Just ordered the 75B.  Also ordered the EZ/D-40 sights and G10 thin black grips from Cajun.  Going to put some rounds through it and then send it to CGW. Guess I'm set.  Thanks.

I have both the P07 and 75B in .40.  Both are great platforms and the .40 P07 is my most carried sidearm.  The 75B in .40 is a sweet shooter and as BA said above, is one of the best shooting .40s you could hope for.  As much as I love my 75B in .40 though, I?d love to see it go back to it?s original owner. :)

The P09 is also a great .40 platform.  With the +2 mags, it?s a great nightstand gun with the light attached.  I?d carry my P09s if the P07 was not so dang good of a carry gun.

My P09 9mm is my bedside gun.  Open to picking up one of those too in 40.

Bought 2 75B 40s.  Sending one to CGW and putting the other in the safe. Waited too long for the 07 cause can't find one.  Better grab a P09 40 while I can.

BA, your Cajunized P09 is what is doing nightstand duty for me.  It?s a sweet gun and with 17+1 on tap, it will handle any mischief that might come my way.
