CZ-75 grip screws coming loose
« on: June 03, 2019, 11:50:09 AM »
So a buddy and I met up Friday at the range, and we shot my 75B. I had taken the Hogue grips off that morning and put on my regular VZ grips, and made sure I tightened the screws down. My buddy shot the first mag through the gun that night and he said that afterwards the screws had loosened up. As he is a fellow CZ fan and owner, he had a similar occurence happen when he got his SP-01. To counter the problem, he ended up putting lock tight onto the screws to keep them from coming loose.

So have any of you folks had similar issues with CZ grip screws and what did you do?

A very small drop of blue Loctite.
Do not use very much or they may never come off again.

All of my CZ's came with star washers under the grip screws which keeps them from loosing.
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.

I suggest trying out small rubber o rings on the grip screws. Locktight is an option but it comes with some potential issues depending on how it is applied and what it is applied to. I am sure it has worked out fine for many however i have seen a few CZ owners get them selves into trouble in part because they were unfamiliar with using locktight.

Either suggestion works great, just grip screws not so much.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Was there a specific set of star washers that you used?

Due to differences in grips it may depend to some degree what grips you are working with but i will bet that something around this size will work (linked below). In the past i have just taken the grip and grip scerw to the hardware store so that i could size them on the spot.

LOK O-Rings 1/8 ID x 1/4 OD

Purple Loctite (222) is what you should use for grip screws.

I had same problem, clean holes and screws prior to applying Loctite and they will stay tight.
