Mec Gar mags won't drop free from Phantom

I recently got an SP01 Phantom and a bunch of new 17rd Mec Gar mags. The original mags that came with the gun shoot out when I hit the release. The Mec Gars are pretty stubborn, even loaded they stick only dropping about 1/4 inch. I'm assuming it's from the coating on the mags but wanted to see if anyone else experienced this and if there's a fix other than sanding down $100 worth of mags.

You're not wrong - the Mecgars were made for the SP-01 which is not exactly like the Phantom. Factory mags work perfectly, but the aftermarkets for some reason, do not.

I'm not aware of any fix. My Gen 1 uses any mag EXCEPT the AFG (?) coated mags with the +2 base pad.

I had a phantom older model and I noticed an issue with the mags not dropping free as well. But I do not know if they were oem or mecgar. If I applied any significant force to the frame the mag would not drop. I figured this had something to do with why they went with the newer tougher polymer for the frame when they re introduced the pistol. This experience left a bad taste with me so I went with a metal framed sp01 because I did really like the gun otherwise
