I can't seem to find this specific info anywhere, so please forgive me if this is common knowledge.
I've been comparing the 16 round Mec-gar magazines with the black follower (MGCZ7516B) versus the (newer) 17-round with the blue follower (MGCZ7517AFC). What exactly is different about the two mag designs that allows the extra +1 round? The springs seem visually identical right down to coil count and position, and I can't discern any differences in the followers other than color.
Does the 16 round magazine body have slightly less interior volume than the 17-round somehow? That's the only thing I haven't had a chance to carefully measure yet.
Thanks for any insight!
PS I believe it's quite common knowledge that the 17-round MGCZ7517AFC is *identical* to the dual-caliber OEM 17-round 9mm/12-round .40SW magazines that ship with pistols like the Shadow 2 other than the markings for 9mm/.40SW on either side.
