Front Sight roll pin - UGH

Took out my front sight to install a CZ night sight.  Mistake.  Oh well.  Had to drill through the hole to make a cut in the sight and of course marred my slide a tad.  Now, after even filing the sight slot a little, I cannot get a new roll pin through.  Double ugh.  Any tricks to this?  Thanks.

It would have been best to simply file a notch in the sight, instead of drilling through the slide.  I always prefer to remove metal from the cheaper part... 

At this point, remove the front sight and install the roll pin.  You have to ensure the pin will go through without the sight first. 

After you have confirmed the pin will go through the slide without the sight, then just work on the sight outside of the slide. 

Take your time...

Usually, drilling through the front sight is not much of an issue, but it can happen.
You did drill through it, so the hole is there. All you have to do now is to find that hole.
Before you can force a pin through it, and damage the pin or the slide, if everything is not perfectly aligned, use a small punch, or a small screw driver to align the slide and the new sight hole together. You might have to play with the new front sight a bit for your punch to find all the holes.
Once this is done, leave the punch in the holes and get your pin started from the other side.
Gently hammer the pin and keep pressure on the punch at the same time for the pin to follow your punch's.
Et voila, everything should fall into place.

I have a Transitional with the hole drilled crooked from the factory. It'll only go through from one side and not the other, even then it takes some coaxing.

When drilling, always drill from the left side so that the sight doesn?t walk forward.  The front sight roll pin punch from CZC is excellent.

I guess I'll need the CZC roll pin punch - but not sure that will do it - I have small ones but many times they just spread the pin head.  All I'm doing is dinging up the finish on the slide.  The stock roll pin WON'T go through.   

I emailed CZ and back in the safe it goes.

Whoever designed these already has a special place in hades.

I have installed new front sights in some of my CZ's, and I have NEVER drilled through the slide. 

I would much rather take my time, and not mar the firearm. 

I guess to each his own...

Broke one of the CGW drill bits trying to "drill" a slot in the front sight.  After that, I file the notch.  Takes awhile, but I don't mind slow if I get the result I want.

Sorry you're having issues.  My worst one, these days, with the front sight is bending those teeny little punches.  Bent that skinny one a few days back taking the ejector pin out of an AR15 bolt.  I have one left.  I'm going to cut the tip off it so I've only got about 3/8" skinny sticking out and that should be much more resistant to bending than the long punches.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Looks good, funny how the replacement tips seem to cost about the same as the whole punch.

Might have to try a set, just need to do some calculations on inch to metric since most CZ parts seem to be in metric  sizes when it's mentioned.

I keep extra front sight pins and lifter springs in my kit.  I usually take an extra pin to get the sight aligned, the initial pin gets marred/mushroomed in the process.

Lifter springs and I just don't get along. They either disappear or get mangled during reassembly.

Both are cheap enough to keep extra on hand.
