I guess the question for me is what does lightening mean?

In order for the Shadow2 to make Carry Optics weight, the slide needs to have metal removed to reduce the weight.  Can be accomplished with additional serrations, windows, and pockets.

HUH ????
Primary Machines charges $160 for CZ SLIDE MILLING.
And no complaints.

I was thinking the same thing at first, but I believe his comment was towards milling and lightening a Shadow2 slide.  That DOES cost $400 at Primary Machine...

For the machine time for that work - we should be charging even more.

They require you to send the optic. That?s how you know it will be done right!

I have one of their P10C match barrels. I KNOW they do fantastic machine work.

Yes my comment was in regards to the $400+ charge. However it is certainly not my place to put a price on someone else time/labor. That?s why I didn?t have anything at all negative to say. I?ve seen pics of PM?s work it is beautiful. I simply said not everyone is ?willing? or able to pay that and there are more affordable options to accomplish the job, but they may not have the wonderful eye appeal that you get with PM. I will happily be ordering a PM barrel for me P-10F later this year when they become available.

They make cuts in various spots on the slide to make it lighter. Sometimes they are for cosmetic tastes. A common one is to take a section out of the top of the slide - similar to a Glock 34 slide. Others may have openings cut into the side of the slide.

Weight is important for a USPSA Carry Optics gun. Not necessary to make the gun run, but some people like the cuts for personal taste reasons.
