+P Ammunition in CZ 75 Compact
« on: April 27, 2019, 04:34:25 PM »
I do not make a habit of running +P ammunition through any of my firearms, but I think it?s good to know if the practice is acceptable, totally ok, or not recommended. Local dealer says anything goes...
+p+, sub gun ammunition...all is fine. Maybe he is just over optomistic ???

Generally speaking you're better off with a steel framed pistol if you want to run hot ammo so there's that. That being said wear parts such as recoil springs, slide stops and the firing pin retention roll pin are going to show signs of wear or go more quickly than they otherwise would. IMO a magazine every now and then to verify function shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're going to use it for carry ammo. I wouldn't use it for range ammo. I'd steer clear of anything +P+, JMO.

Will it blow up? Not likely

Will it wear the pistol faster? Yes

Personally, i generally avoid the stuff. I have not found a good reason to run more than a box or so for testing purposes.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Manufacturers that made pistols before +P ammo became available recommend not using it on these older pistols. From what I have read, with continued use, +P can stretch the frame on older revolvers not designed for +P.

Hiya Coyote56 and thx for the thread, agree with operators suggestion and advice. When you see your local dealer again, remind him of his anything goes advice, and that a forum member suggested that he is a real wanker.
If your gun didn't have an owners manual, you can download one and I recall for your platform they say use +p sparingly so open to your interpretation, and they suggest never using +p+ and there rationale is posted as well.
One has to practice some with their HD ammo and much of it is rated +p.
The only exception I'm aware of is the cz sp-01 tactical, which was designed for LE and military and rated to shoot Nato 9mm, the ratings are very similar to +p. I simply can't afford to shoot it all the time, even if the guns tolerances are made for it.Be well.

It's safe to shoot +p with caution in your CZ 75 Compact  SAAMI has specs. set for standard pressure and +p 9mm but not for +p+ it's just a way of telling you it's a over pressure round. If you want something hotter than 9mm just move up to 357 sig. I've been toying with the idea of changing a 40 S&W Rami over to 357 sig. that would be a hand full of fun.

...I guess it's in the eyes or hands of the beholder Dr Lew? Your "handful of fun" would be my "handful of ouch" :-)

Thank you for your service.

cousinmark I think you my be right I've got a Glock 32 that has a extra 9mm and 40 S&W barrel the standard 357 sig barrel doesn't get much use.
