Anyone have any thoughts on the CZ 11119 16 round magazine for compact / P-01, vs. the Mec-Gar 16rd MGCZ7516B/0430177001 with SP-01 baseplate combo?

I was looking for a larger capacity magazine for my P-01 and got a couple of each.

CZ 11119 sort of rattles around in the pistol and there is a little bit of a gap between the top of the base plate and the bottom of the pistol. Rather disappointed. Vs. the Mec-Gar MGCZ7516B/0430177001 which doesn't rattle around, and there is no gap.

Doesn't make sense, I thought Mec-Gar made the CZ Mec-Gar 11119 magazine, but they sure don't seem like the same item?

I just ordered (last night) 2 of the CZ 11119 mags from GunMagWarehouse, so once I receive them and have a chance to try them out, I’ll let you know what I find.

I’ll throw my two cents in.  I have 25 or so mags, all of them Mec-Gar 16 round. 10 for my 75, 15 for my compact or P1 with the SP-01 base plates.  Never had one issue, one failure to feed, nothing. They work flawlessly.  So for me there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. It’s already been invented and I’m extremely happy with the end result. And by the way, I have rattling as well at times which is the bullets moving inside the magazine. Sometimes a stiff bang on my hand will settle it down and sometimes not but it’s never caused any issues :)

I don't have as many mags as plumber, but will agree with what he said.

Received the CZ 16-rounders today. Just tried them in the P-01 and they fit perfectly. I didn’t load them yet, but everything plumber4444 said I also agree with.

Also, I have two of the 19-round Mec-Gars for my 75B & SP-01, and they have been very reliable. In fact, the anti-friction coating (AFC) is awesome; the mags slide in like they were buttered. :o

Thank you anon1234 for starting this thread and plumber4444 for your feedback.

The 16 round MGCZ7516B Mec-Gar mags can be had for about $20 in many places including Greg Cote and Buds Gun Shop and the SP01 base padsfor about $8 at CZ Custom or $9 from Greg Cote. That ends up being $28-$29 before shipping costs. They fit in my P01. Will test it and let you guys know how it works.

  • I've shot the rest, I now own the best - CZ
The urban gray P01's came with the 16 round magazines.

The black P01 Omegas came with the standard 14 round compact magazines with a soft rubber base on them.

Ordering the bases from Greg Cote LLC and installing them on some standard 16 round Mecgar magazines wasn't hard at all.

The 14 round magazines are spares/back ups these days.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.
