My prized P10C is doubling and tripling!!!
« on: April 28, 2019, 06:37:32 PM »
1st gen early P10C.

Strange thing happened at the range today. I was shooting lite loads for practice and accuracy testing and decided to shoot some full power factory ammo (WWB) with a new CZ steel captured guild rod to see how far the brass would fly. First shot ok. Second and third were automatic. I unloaded and looked over the insides. Nothing rounded or worn in obvious ways to cause a double. I thought, maybe a fluke or I released the trigger really fast a then added pressure again and it went off? So I tried it again. On the first shot it was three shots! Ok. Back to the work bench. Since I have a CGW striker, I removed it and put in the factory striker. It only had a CGW striker and an HB Industry?s flat trigger as non stock parts. I still run the factory striker spring. I loaded three rounds in the mag. It only fired once, but the trigger would not return. I removed the round from the chamber and it had a small dent in the primer. So I left it unloaded and cycled the slide vigorously. About 70% of the time the striker followed the slide and didn?t allow the trigger to return. That?s with all stock factory parts.  I?ve fired more than 10,000 rounds with no issues. I?ve shot IDPA matches, outlaw steel matches, and Steel Challenge matches. No issues.
I really don?t want to send this pistol back to CZ. Any chance they would send me new trigger parts?

I doubt they'd send you new trigger parts..anything bad happens and they're on the hook for a lawsuit..Call CZ, I'd guess once you tell them what's going on, they'll want to look at it ASAP..

This sounds like a trigger bar issue or related issue. The HBI trigger and CGW striker probably had nothing, or very little to do with it. Replacing the parts with the stock parts probably just shook it into manifesting via a different behavior.

As mentioned above the trigger bar is likely the issue. I've had to replace a few trigger bars in the P10 as they seem to vary wildly from the factory and cause some issues over time.

10000 plus rounds. Could the striker spring be worn out. Only reason I ask is the dent in the primer. Any chance the striker is bouncing forward under recoil because of a weak spring. No idea what the service life is on CZ springs. Also the trigger bar is a wear item when you get in the 10s of thousands of rounds. David

Check the 2 trigger bar springs. Those are what will pull the striker release back up to catch on the striker. Make sure they were installed correctly.

I sent off my P10C today. Hopefully it will be updated throughout with the new striker anti rotation cut and trigger bar that won?t go full auto.

The pistol was quite dirty. I cleaned pretty well and tried cycling the slide vigorously and it would drop the striker about 1 in 5 cycles. The trigger bar springs were fine. I think the issue is the trigger bar. The parts were worn very smoothly. No rounded corners though. Still difficult to imagine how it would drop the striker simply because it was polished smooth from use. The trigger pull did seem to be getting lighter as the round count increased.

That is odd, indeed, looking forward to the results.

The trigger pull getting lighter would worry me..I had  PPQ that did that, it got to the point where when practicing drawing, firing, I'd often get a double, it made me nervous to carry it, so, I sold ASAP.. I'm not sure CZ is going to give you a new slide, I don't know if an older slide could be retrofitted with the anti rotation cut, and a new slide would have a different serial number, and you'd have a mismatched gun..

It?s the disconnector.

If the pistol fires more than one shot per trigger pull your illustrious government considers you to be in possession of an NFA Item.

I?d get it back to CZ USA **immediately**.

There are a few cases of people being prosecuted for things just like you?re experiencing.

The trigger bar is a wear item. Glock has an armorer back plate to put on to check the striker engagement so your condition is not unheard of. David

Not to worry. It arrived at CZ today.  I have no use for a full auto anything. I have two holes in the side of my shed to show you how uncontrollable it is for me.  I?m sure they will know exactly what to do. I?m just hoping the can get it back to me quickly.

Good for you, brother. I?d hate to see ANYONE railroaded like the one or two cases I?m familiar with.

I don?t think it would be gone long; it?s easily replicated and they know what parts need sorting. They?ll probably replace ALL of the fire control group in order to do a detailed tolerance check.

Go get another!!!
