455 Tacticool .22 LR
« on: April 29, 2019, 04:36:32 AM »
My 455 Tacticool shoot fairly well out of the box, a friend of my pillar bedded it and I took away some wood in the front of stock to make it free-floating (it wasn't really from factory). I would say that it did it a little bit more accurate, but not in competition class, 50 yrds range. A muzzle breake (did only find one for a .30 cal) did the trick, I tightend a 5 round serie down from a tight 1 MOA, to about 1,5 cm (+/- 0,6"). Are there any others that have experience of what is worth putting effort into?

I have tried quite some different .22 ammo, but SK Standard Plus as normal day to day/bang for the buck- training ammo and I'm now looking forward to test the new SK Long Range, they will start delivering now in May (fingers crossed) here in Sweden.

You've gone free floated on the barrel. Another thing you might try is some light upward pressure at the end of the stocks fore end. Just place layers of tape or layers of business cards until you get upward pressure on the barrel. Some rifles prefer free floating others want some upward pressure, only one way to find out for sure. If the shims do not work out it's easy to reverse, just remove them.

Hmmm, never heard about that one. Must be tested and as you say, easy to remove if not working, thanks for the idea.

I have now tried the up-pressure trick, on one of my better range day’s and I have to say that I come down a little and have to admit that I thought it was a bit suspekt, but anything that works ;D.

Thanks ever so much for your advise :)
