Czechmate or have a 2011 Built
« on: May 13, 2019, 07:36:39 PM »
On the fence, plus not enough of the $$$ in my account.

Anyone that has been using the Czechmate for competition, how has it gone? Is it comparable to the STI 2011 Open Guns? Has anyone regretted buying a CM instead of an off the shelf/built 2011 Open Gun? Curious.

Anyone?

Somebody must be using the Czechmate in Competition, someone?  ???

Just curious how it has worked for you, did you make any major changes? Have you considered maybe switching over to the 2011 Platform (blasphemy, I know). Been considering the CM, but not sure what to expect. Or should I move to something else.

I think you'd do better asking this question on Enos' forum.

Not at all, I just think you'll get more replies there. There actually aren't that many competitive shooters active here. Sorry if my post came off wrong, that wasn't my intention.

I thought you already bought the black 2011 CK from Johnsonian? Are you still going to keep your czechmate?

Czechmates are great guns and won?t hold you back (Robin Sebo goes alright with his).

But

There far more options for 2011?s, both guns & parts so that?s an easy route.

Full caveat: I am presently not an Open Division competitor. I am not ranked within USPSA. I do shoot a lot of nice, fast guns with some really top tier shooters.

I went with a Czechmate Parrot because of cost and familiarity. I can work on CZs already, and I could afford to buy one since it comes with so many parts and mags. The CM is the most accurate gun I've ever shot. I'm sure there are 2011s and other guns that are at least as accurate, but accuracy isn't the question.

Speed? You probably have more options for getting the red dot closer to the barrel on a 2011 so that the aim is more natural, and you probably have more options for compensators with a 2011.

Reliability? People say that a 1911/2011 can be made to run flawlessly. I fully believe that. However, the Czechmate runs flawlessly out if the box, requires no magazine tuning, and is significantly cheaper than an equivalent 2011. This is also true for the Tanfoglio version.

Trigger? Does it really matter when going full speed? I can't tell the difference between a $5k 2011 and my Czechmate when going full speed.

A very similar thread on Enos.  (https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/252267-czechmate-vs-2011/?tab=comments#comment-2807383)

Always pros and cons to each platform.  If you haven't joined Enos forums too, strongly recommended.  The CZ and Enos forums are my two go-to places!

I don't shoot open division. I actually just started shooting USPSA Limited with a CK Arms and STI both in .40S&W (I would prefer something different, but I'm in California, so I have very little option).

I have shot a fully customized 2011, but never shot a Czechmate. I've only handled a Czechmate at a local store and the 2011 just felt much comfortable in my hand. It probably comes down to what your goals are; both platforms are great and will likely outshoot a newer shooter. AFAIK, the best in the world shoot a 2011-based open gun, so there's probably a reason for that - tons of options out there when customizing.

I (had) two Atlas Titans which were very very nice pistols with the finest triggers that I have ever experienced. Previously I had shot Glocks competitively for many years. As much as I tried to like the 2011 platform it just didn’t like me. I just couldn’t shoot the Titans as fast as I could shoot my 34’s. I sold the Atlas’ and bought a TSO and bingo, because I could smoke the times I had with my Glocks. My Newly acquired Czechmate is still a project in process finding the right load. All my CZs have been 100% reliable to date with 10’s of thousands down their pipes. Can’t say the same for the 1911 and 2011 platforms!

It’s kind of a standing joke among some of the Glock shooters around here that we hope we go head to head with guys shooting 19/2011 guns because they are so prone to failure, at least in our neck of the woods.

Did you not try the Major PF load in the CM user manual? I find it to have exceptionally low SDs and ridiculous accuracy.
