Midwest Industries handguard question.
« on: June 02, 2019, 01:09:10 PM »
Can an aluminum charging handle be used with the Midwest Industries handguard? I recently purchased a used EVO pistol and it came with a HBI Theta charging handle. I would like to use the charging handle. I find it odd that I cannot use the charging handle with their own handguard(HBI).

You can but it's not advised. Aluminum on aluminum is typically a bad idea.

I have an HBI handle and a Midwest handguard.

It works fine, as long as you use enough lubricant (im using teflon impregnated grease) and dont pull hard up or down when charging, but straight back. When shooting, the handle does not move, so the only time it will rub is during charging, and that is generally not done very often.

I also have the stock handle on the other side, so if I think something is off, I can use that instead
