New CZ97B
« on: June 07, 2019, 06:42:31 PM »
I just received my brand new CZ97B, I was a little concerned after reading that most folks here receive a dated target.  I called CZ and the rep told me that sometimes the guns go out without them.  It was manufactured in 3/2019 and has not been registered with CZ, so I?m assuming that this is likely the case.

That being said the photos online do not do this work of art any justice.  I have a Dan Wesson VBob and other than the LCI the 97B is every bit as beautifully well constructed as it is.

I have not taken it to the range yet, however it is as accurate out of the box as my VBob with laserammo.  Very much looking forward to taking it to the range.

I am considering sending it in at some point to CGW for the E option.  I was wondering if anyone here would provide some insight on this upgrade.

Thanks.

Gratz on your new CZ 97. It is not a bad idea to check the set scerw that holds the CZ97 LCI plate in place to ensure that it is tight. Adding some locktight or other thread locker to the set scerw is a popular option to ensure that it stays in place. A number of forum members including my self have had the LCI fall off in the first few magazines through the pistol.

May your CZ97 run flawlessly.

Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Sage advice from Tok, it's happened to a lot of us.  Takes 5 minutes to fix, use low or medium strength loctite and not the red stuff.  Also if you field strip it make sure you line up the bushing correctly and it does not have to be super tight, just seat it and then back off to the first notch.  I think CZ supplying a wrench is a little misleading and people think they need to crank down on the bushing, don't do that and you'll be good.

Thanks Fellas!

Regarding cleaning is there anything I should stay away from with the black finish?  I am a big fan of hoppes #9 and/or fp-10.

I have no experience with FP-10, but Hoppe's #9 won't hurt a 97

FP-10 is fine, but regular synthetic lite motor oil Mobil1 0W-20 does the same job much cheaper.

Thanks I?ll start using Mobil once my stock of FP-10 runs out.  DW recommends FP-10 for the VBob, the Mobil will clean as well if I don?t use the Hoppes?

It is a mediocre cleaner but good lubricant. For deep thorough cleaning I use cheap brake cleaner from Autozone, then lube with Mobile1.
Also occasionally I use FP-10 for soaking very tough spots. Never needed anything stronger for many thousand rounds.

Do these things like to run wet like a 1911?

I use FP-10 now on everything that doesn?t require grease thanks to Dan Wesson. I have come to like it as a cleaner and lube (though I use Balistol for barrels, and some strong stuff very rarely if ever needed). Works like a charm on the CZ97!

A oil all of my CZs like I do my 1911s as they seem to like wet. Perhaps the only exception would by my P10s, which I follow the generally accepted lubrication points of poly pistols.
