Looking at the extractor pic would anyone care to venture a guess as to whether I need a new extractor or just the spring? Thanks.

From having removed and cleaned behind the extractors on my P-07's a few times, I would say your extractor looks bent, and that you need a new one.  May as well replace the spring and clean everything out really good while you're at it.

Also I find it strange that your P-09 is relatively new, but your extractor doesn't have the loaded chamber indicator like mine do.  I knew older guns didn't have them, but my 2017 P-07 has one.  Actually I guess your extractor must have a pin underneath it there, that the spring rides on, but isn't visible from the outside.  That may also need replacing, especially if you get the new version of the extractor with a hole in it for the loaded chamber indicator.

I feel your pain.  I did the same thing to an SP-01 a couple years ago.  Bulged the barrel but nothing else was injured, other than my pride.  And my wallet. 8)
Did you replace the barrel with a drop in or did you have to have it fitted?

I got the barrel from CZ-USA.  It was too tight to drop in.  I had to do some filing. There are tutorials on the web. Seems like there is a sticky here.  Maybe the gunsmithing forum?

I purchased it new off Gunbroker...it could have been sitting around a while...who knows?   Serial number starts with C53----.  I purchased a new Glock that had sat on the shelf for 4 years.  It happens.

First I have to find one...LOL.   CZ USA is out and CZ Custom says it could be up to a two month wait...so for now I have an expensive paperweight.  It will give me a chance to use it as a dedicated dry fire pistol.   I am curious to see how the infamous firing pin roll pin stands up.   I purchased a bag of 100 3x20 heavy duty roll pins from Tacoma Screw.  They should last me several lifetimes of dry firing to my hearts content.

Yeah, that makes sense that it may have been old stock from an earlier year of manufacture.  On the slide, there is a two-digit year-of-manufacture to the left of the serial number.  You can see on this example from the CZ USA website, the year is 20[16]:

I will say, never give up on P09's.  Mine has never broken.  If someone wants to fire my P09, I allow them to use my ammo.

Do yourself a big favor and call CZ USA and explain what happened to them. I can't say that they will warranty your situation in any way but CZ has great customer service and they have been known to be extremely helpful.

While "besmirched" waits for parts, when will moderators or other forum folks ask what is the brand of brass used or still left in the batch of ammo?  Was the brass mixed brands or was it former range pick up brass?  I did not mention powder brand or charge.  Has brass length been checked?  This reply does not include true stories about multiple people who I have seen get hurt. My questions are not just about "besmirched" and post   was not meant to be a slam.

Federal case.  Federal small pistol primer.  4.5 grains WSF.  1.130 OAL.  with .356 125 grain gold coated Brazos Precision bullet.  I will say this about the Brazos.  They leaded up the barrel.  I have shot thousands of uncoated lead bullets that didn't lead up the barrel as badly as the coated Brazos did.  And with significant more rounds than just 70 or so.

On a side note.  I pulled the extractor and there is no visible damage.   It looks like the extractor spring was elongated. So hopefully a new spring will fix that.

I called today and was told there are no CZ P09 barrels.   And was quoted a ballpark figure of $260.00 dollars just to install the barrel, when they get them in. That's more than half of the cost of the gun. And that does not include the next day ship.  So that is out.  I will just do It myself, when they finally get them in stock.  Kind of bummed out over the whole deal.  Sold my gen 3 19 because I recently went to appendix carry.  I wont appendix carry a Glock.  And I cant help wonder that even tho I screwed up, I could have had my Glock up and running in just a few days with parts from Amazon or a hundred different vendors.  The CZ handles and shoots so smoothly compared to the Block, tho.

Good to hear (see) about that primer brand was mentioned.  I don't carry by own appendix body part but that comment was off-topic.  I lost my appendix many years ago but I understand appendix carry.

There's no way to be sure the glock would have been repairable since that isn't the gun that got damaged. Could be it would have not come out of the ordeal as well as the CZ did. The slide on the CZ I think is much more robust than the glock.

I put a threaded barrel on my Pre B CZ85 (no standard barrels in stock when I wanted one either, though they did show up a couple weeks later).  I don't really notice the thread protector sticking out there.

On the plus side, if you decided some day that you'd like to have a compensator installed then already having the threaded barrel installed makes it much cheaper/simpler.

A lot of people are finding out the compensator, with the right ammo, makes a difference in how far up the sights move on every shot, making the next shot quicker and closer to the first shot.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
