New (to me) Witness P.
« on: July 03, 2019, 07:00:08 PM »
40 cal, and a tackdriver.  That's 3 mags of cheap range ammo unsupported at 7 yards. The OD is rattlecan finish.  Already upgraded to an 18# Wolff single recoil spring and a Henning conefit guide rod. Greatly helped felt recoil and reliability.  Thinking about coyote Cerrokote for the lower, maybe with black insets for the "grip panels".

Does anybody make butt plugs for these guns, and are there any mods I can do to make her more reliable or address known issues?

Never seen a grip plug but that doesn't mean someone has not made them.
I have a full size P and it is accurate.

Welcome to the Forum!  :)

Congratulations on your new-to-you .40 Witness Pavona and may it serve you well!  8)

Also, nice to read that you have made some practical upgrades and thus have made it your own!  :)
Good Shooting!  :)

Thanks. There's such a tendency to make mods just for the sake of changing something. I'd like to find a correct floorplate for the second mag, too. The contour changes from the grip to the mag on the second mag I have.

Pondering on other intelligent upgrades. Henning basically does race guns, but the oversized guide rod helps accuracy and allows for a single recoil spring. Still looking for a grip cap, too. Suggestions?

The Glock Plugs won't work.  The only thing I can think of would be to fill that cavity with epoxy.

Dang It. Still looking. EAA sent me a floorplate, which solved two problems.

1. The finger rest on both mags is now compatable with the grip

2. The backup mag now holds 10.

Today's shooting.  Figured out the flinch. A random snap cap in every magazine does the trick.

Trying to replace the firing pin spring. Assuming it works like a 1911? Is there something I need to do to remove the retainer? It's stuck fast, and on every 45 I have ever had they come down with finger pressure...

Good Shooting!  To service the Firing Pin and Spring, depress the Firing Pin as far as you can, to remove the Retainer Plate.
It SHOULD then just slide down from it's rails.  IF it's stuck, soak that end of the Slide in a Penetrating Oil over night.
Some sort of preservative grease may have solidified it in place, but I've NEVER had that happen.
