For those who've received SilencerCo suppressors as part of their Summer Promotion last year, has anyone noticed sub-par finish? Stamp came in and I was able to bring my Chimera home yesterday. This Chimera is one of the purchased suppressors (rather than the freebie) and one SilencerCo had to make in a hurry as all of their in-stock cans quickly sold out. Purchased in early June 2018, S/N assigned in mid-July and paperwork started, and was disposed to my LGS in late August, 2018. So, it took them ~6 weeks to manufacture it, along with the massive amount of the other purchased cans).

When I took it out of the box and gave it a good once over, I immediately noticed what appears to be box wear - the only section that shows wear is the section that was sitting on the foam inside the box. Almost like the finish wasn't completely cured before they stuffed it in the box and sent it to my local dealer. Pictures show the details.

Anyone else run into this?

Send that thing back.  They will refinish it.

I would consider that as a last resort. It took forever for them to manufacture the free Octane 9, and as I understand it their self-imposed "end of June" deadline for getting all free suppressors sent out came and went with a not insignificant number of people still waiting. I would really hate to be without this Chimera for another several months, right as we're getting into prime shooting season. But I'll hit up their warranty dept to see what the options are.

Yeah, I understand your hesitation to send it back. They didn't have the business plan together when they introduced their BOGO. They admitted it themselves not realizing the amount of people who ordered and their lack of manufacturing capabilities to keep up. Regardless, I'd say they would take care of that fairly fast. It's the actual manufacturing side they are backlogged. Nobody should wait that long for a product to open it up and get a dud that obviously slipped through QC. I'd make sure they can give you a definitive timetable on return before sending it back

Here's another unhappy SilencerCo customer whose can was made right in the same period of time

Now I wish had inspected my freebie Octane 9 at the dealer!

Interesting. Now I'm gonna go check the baffles in my new Chimera. If those are screwed up, too, boy howdy am I gonna be none to pleased.

While sitting here watching Raiders of the Lost Ark, pulled the mount and end cap off, used the phone's light to look into the can, and I do also see the crystalline bits all over the far end baffles (opposite blast chamber) and the edges of the baffles do see rougher than those on my ~9 year old Octane 45 HD (made by SWR, so pre SiCo, but the only other SiCo can I have), but they don't seem to be as jacked up as that particular Arfcom member's baffles.

Tomorrow I'll use the good camera in better lighting to take some pics of the inside, too.
