It’s been a good day!
« on: July 24, 2019, 08:31:51 PM »
I started the day off with a range trip, shooting my 99021 and SP01 Tactical, along with a S&W Nickel 581.  Then, when I got home, my LGS called to tell me that my S&W 4006 TSW came in.  A couple of hours later, I met up with a friend and picked up a S&W Model 13-2.  It’s not many days that I get to add two new pieces to the collection.

Excellent Score! My 3" 13-2 and 3" 65-3 are 2 of my favorite Smith's.

Oh the good old days, when S&W made the 3rd Gen. pistols, and wheel guns without the silly hole.  Nice pic it makes me wish I hadn't sold my 3rd gen. guns.

The 3rd gen guns are nice enough but I never pass on a chance at a pre-lock S&W wheelgun. Always liked the 3 inch models like that since they are still an easy to conceal option with a full length ejector rod.

Unfortunately no.  I picked it out off of CDNN, not realizing that they only ship with 1 magazine.  Shipping was cheap and fast but I'll pay for that in ordering a pair of mags for $20 each.

I have not polished it up yet and under dry fire, it’s pretty crunchy in SA.  DA is smoother but is about 11 or 12 lbs.  Reset is fantastic though.  Could be a tad more tactile but it’s really short.  When shooting it, the SA feels fine and I can ring steel at 100 yards a couple of times per mag (that’s good for me).  This weekend’s job is to disassemble, clean and polish the internals.  So far, all I have done is a quick cleaning and lube before shooting it.

Go to blubelly2 on YouTube for disassembly reassembly. These are the videos I used when taking mine apart. Make sure you get the sides of the trigger bar, very rough. Actually there are a lot of very rough spots.
As I remember the hammer strut looks like a chainsaw blade you can smooth that out. I used a Dremel and a couple of buffing wheels all over the inside of this. I also noticed the trigger rubs up against the frame where it goes through the frame. You can do with that what you wish.
Actually I took several hours and Polished any and all metal-to-metal contact points.
I always stay away from the Sear and the hammer hooks. Well maybe just a slight touch with the felt pad on the Dremel , but not much.
