P365 hybrid?
« on: August 18, 2019, 01:48:50 PM »

XL FCU under my 365 slide [perfect. for me anyway] hogue handall. [still waiting for a proprietary one for the XL] feels good in the hand. mepro #8 front and sig #8 rear[again. my preference] ArachniGrip Sig P365 Slide Spider. blacked out the red spider though. thought it looked stupid. vedder light tuck IWB. this is the best carry rig I have ever owned hands down.

This set up looks very promising. Haven't had an urge to buy a Sig until now. The standard P365 frame is just too small for my hand size.

its my first. shot a friends 229 40 once and hated it. putzed around on the net for a while with this one. then held it at my LGS. the standard frame wasn't bad at all. I just like this setup better. still great for CC [grip is only 1/2 inch longer but holds a whopping 13rnds :o

I've carried a Shield 45 for a couple years. Its slightly larger than the 9/40 frame and fits me perfectly while being thin enough to conceal easily. I'd like a few more rounds capacity though.
Recently I traded into a Rami BD and have fallen in love with carrying it in a leather owb pancake holster. For iwb it's a little pudgy though. Your 365 "semi subcompact " would cover both applications I think.
Does the P365 have grip "modules" like the 320?

Puddintame,
Do I understand correctly that it's a standard length P365 slide and barrel on the slightly taller P365XL Frame with the extra rounds (12+1) and full 3-finger grip length?

Also like the blacked-out slide grip spider. How much easier is racking the slide?

Looks like the perfect combination!

Isn't the grip height the most constraining dimension for concealed carry, especially IWB?  if carrying the taller grip height, why not go ahead and take advantage of the slightly longer barrel and sight radius of the XL slide?  it doesn't add that much more weight, does it?

earl... yes. there are plenty of grip mods for the standard 365. grayguns for example and a few on ebay

vinny.. makes it much easier to rack

bstill...its all just my preference. I bought the XL on impulse. but when I did the swap I just liked it. like I said, its only 1/2 inch taller than the flush 10rnd mag on the standard 365 and I don't see any "great" improvement with the XL. this lil gun shoots big and puts decent groups at 15yds. 5 and 10 are even tighter

thanks.  FWIW gun-Tuber MAC recently did a differences video on the XL to the original 365:  the longer and slightly heavier slide enables design changes to the recoil spring and firing pin that make huge improvents in reliability and shootability over original 365 upper.

I'm hoping Sig will make XL grip modules available in the near future so I can drop my standard 365 slide/FCU in and take advantage of the better grip.

the grip is only half inch longer but makes a big difference. when sig offers there XL grip mods, anyone could buy a standard 365 and have a similar setup. I have the XL FCU, so I also have the flat trigger. not a big deal at all, but nice. the extended beavertail is also feels a little better in the hand. the only kicker is that the 12rnd mags will only work if you remove the floorplate and buy sigs XL's and swap them out. now I need to decide what to do with my standard 365 FCU. sell or keep.

I tried to carry and be happy with Kahr subcompacts but never liked the pinky under the magazine base, especially in .40 cal.  The Kahr's were just too short in the grip.  The P-10C and P-07 are too big for me (for carry).  Looks like the P-365XL grip is just right--just like the P-10S, that is, good pinky contact and 12 rounds.  I'm loving that size for a carry gun.  Hope the Sig works out for you as well as my P-10S is working out for me.

thats why I'm comparing the CW9 vs. the CM9:  Slightly longer grip length, enough for me to have room enough for my pinky grip plus get an extra round.

Another option is purchase a flat trigger and swap out the curved trigger on the 365.  You can buy flat triggers from the Sig store, Armory Craft or Gray Guns.

I have both a 365 and a 365 XL. I went with a Sig flat trigger to keep both of mine the same.

This aluminum frame looks nice. I like the beaver tail and palm swell.
