Thoughts on Original TS vs TSO rear sights?
« on: August 20, 2019, 10:02:31 AM »
I just picked up a new TSO and honestly miss the large rear aperture of the original TS. Am I just being picky or is this valid? I’m tempted to swap the rear sight and get the matching front sight with a larger fiber optic rod.

Do what makes you like your gun.
who cares if its valid or not if its what you want on your gun and it can be done and you got the extra change it requires…...do it.

A gun that is how you want it is a gun that makes you smile.

I prefer the new style. Your eyes will adjust over time. The larger rear U may be faster for acquisition but you sacrifice accuracy at distance, unless you get a large enough width front sight that it then obscures the entire A zone at 15-25. I think for most the eyes will adjust and you will appreciate the accuracy more over the long term but thats just my 2 cents. I have went back and forth from multiple width U notches and fron sight widths over the last 10 years and have come to favor the more narrow front and more narrow rear.

If your TSO is .40 and you shoot a lot (10K+), the adjustable sites have a tendency to break.  I prefer the one-piece TS design on my TSO because of this.
