CZ P08
« on: August 26, 2019, 01:06:03 AM »
In the winter, I carry a HK P30, with my thick winter gloves the grip on my P07 is a little short, and the P09's grip is too long for concealing.

Anyone else interested in a P08? say a four inch barrel and glock 17 sized grip that hold 17 rounds of 9mm in the polymer omega platform?  like the Glock 45/19x, FN 509, Beretta APX, Sig P320 Carry/M18, and HK P30 in size.

For many of us that live in colder climates during parts of the year, i think it would be ideal.

(if cz is reading, when you do make it, can you tweak the design of the firing pin retaining pin being the stop for the firing pin when dry firing)

(and maybe, putting in an actual locking block, instead of using the slide stop as a locking block)

Have you tried the +2 base pads?  That's 17 rounds and a longer grip for your P-07.

At best the mag change is cumbersome and slower, at worst the winter glove can block the mag from inserting all the way.

I also like the idea of the 4 inch of barrel compared to the P07 barrel.

That's true, you have to release your pinky grip to drop the mag, and keep your pinky out of the way to load the new one.  I hadn't thought about it but I guess the gloves could get caught in between when inserting the new mag.

Some people have chopped the grip of a P-09 to accept P-07 magazines, basically creating a long-barrel P-07.  For your grip requirement, though, you would need something in between, and magazines that accommodate it, which don't exist.

The other design changes you mentioned... firing pin retaining pin, locking block... don't see any of those things happening.  Most P-07 enthusiasts here seem more interested in a sub-compact version, with a shorter grip and barrel, and/or a thinner single-stack pistol, and these things don't seem to be happening either.

Not going to happen. CZ is putting most of their eggs in the striker fired basket these days so I seriously doubt that any changes or new models are on the horizon as far as the hammer fired guns.
I find guns in the P-07 size just about perfect for year round carry. P-07,PCR,Sig M11 all work great for me.

BTW, CZ decided that P-08 designation was permanently co-opted by Luger. 8) ;)

I’m a fan of the P07 platform too.  I had never really thought about the glove issue in the winter though, but it makes sense.  I really do with CZ had produced the promised P10 in .40.  My P07 in .40 is the most carried gun I have.

I JUST got a P30 - great gun.

I think CZ should NOT abandon the P series and keep it coming at least, but yes, a P08 might be nice.  Striker guns are popular and easy peasy, so they'll stick around.

I WOULD like to see more QC on the trigger parts and some improvement OTB in the trigger (HK needs this in spades).  I'd love to see much more aggressive stippling on the front and back, slightly thicker grip - maybe some countour like the P10 series.  This is not needed so much for the P07, but the P09 needs it for stability.  Ledge sight LIKE the Night Fision, but WIDER notch and serrated rear with NO junk - plain black.  No confusion.  Would LOVE to see flatter STEEL controls like the P01 Omega.  And finally, to everyone's chagrin, SUPERIOR WALTHER P99 STYLE PADDLES, to make it the PERFECT DA/SA.

Love the P30 ergoes, and especially the paddles, but the KING of the ambi mag release is the P99 AS.  It is the best in EVERY way.

Do you live in a state where you can't even print a little bit.
I used to CCW a po9 for about a year, nobody ever noticed. Or at least nobody ever said anything.
If your state allows you to print a little don't worry about it nobody has any idea what's under your shirt. They think it might be another piece of electronics, or colostomy bag, I guarantee you nobody will ever ask. And actually the only people that may notice or those that actually carry themselves. And they are not going to say anything.JMHO Keep Calm and Carry On.

I'd much rather see a single stack 9 than another full capacity gun.
CZ P-07
CZ PCR - CGW
CZ 85 Combat
CZ SP-01 ODG
CZ P-06
CZ 97B
CZ P-10C
Colt King Cobra 6" .357 magnum
A bunch of inferior pistols

My frame carries P07 & P10C well, but the idea of a single stack sounds great.  Also are we ever gonna see P07 optics ready from the factory?
