Yeah, that might work. Seems the consensus is it's a 'nice to have', not a 'vital to have'. I might just stick one on my Christmas list and see if the wife gets me one, but if not, I'll wait for a used or 'on sale' one to turn up.

Rifle for longer ranges yes. Pistol I never have probably help if I shot longer than 25-50 yards. I should probably on 50 yards but haven’t.

You can load thousands of really good range rounds without one, but .... it will give you an edge if you are looking for the perfect round for a specific load,or a specific ogive, or a specific gun, or a specific distance, and so on.
It will give you added informations .... if you want them.
