Underwood Ammunition JHP

So I went to the store to pick up some 9MM 124g Federal HSTs today, but they were out of stock so I settled for some Underwood 147g +P JHP today. Has anyone tested this ammo before?
The specs for the Underwood 147g on paper are certainly impressive:

1125 FPS
414 ft lb muzzle energy
Gold dot type bullet

I have never used the 124 JHP but my preferred carry round is Underwood Extreme Defender 90 gr +P 1479 fsp .
Its a very accurate hard hitting soft recoiling round .

We advise you take your barrel with you when shopping for ammo... especially 147gr... since a few brands and types won't work in the CZ chamber. And since all ammo sales are final.

It's great if you have a Ruger or Glock you can shoot them in, but all 9mm CZs tend to be very similar in chamber design.

I think I'll go to the range this weekend to try it out

I had Federal Hydra Shoks prior to this and they were okay, nothing that stood out from the ordinary

Love Me Daddy - by your comments, you are not understanding what Wobbly is saying..

Will the cartridge go into your barrel ALL THE WAY and can you turn it by hand when it is fully seated?  If not, DON'T shoot it in that gun!

I searched up more about the plunk test online and it's primarily for reloaded ammo isn't it?

It is for BOTH!!!

DEFINITELY for reloaded ammo, but you should always check factory ammo as well.  Especially with the heavier bullets and those that have a more rounded ogive.

That is why Wobbly recommends bringing the barrel with you when buying ammo - since ammo is non returnable.  Or don't worry if you have a gun with a deeper chamber and just shoot the ammo in that.

I'd just like to thank the folks contributing to this thread ! I was wholly unaware of those properties of the chamber, and now figure I should learn a little more about ammo even though I'm not apt to do any reloading myself .

It's all explained in the referenced thread. The root cause it that eastern Europeans only have access to FMJ (or RN) bullets. You bring that same gun to the US where we have all sorts of HP and conical shapes, and some of them simply won't chamber.

Always a concern is any 147gr because the extra length exacerbates the issue.
