75 SA Ambi
« on: October 01, 2019, 10:45:55 PM »
I'm thinking about picking up one of these 91160 SA models w/ ambi safety and slide stop.  my question is: can you replace the ambi slide release with a standard single side?

Not exactly. The right hand ambi piece has a large diameter opening cut into the frame.

I have not seen a CZ 75 SA with ambi slide stops. Ambi safety levers but not ambi slide stop. Have you seen a picture of the right side of the pistol in question?
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Yeah, the ambidextrous slide release is a CZ85 feature.  Never seen one on a factory CZ that wasn't an 85 model.
I stopped carrying the SIG 556R.  SIG changed models and couple/three times and stopped supporting it with parts.  So, I stopped supporting SIG.  Back to the tried/true AR15 Carbine.

You must be looking at the one on Bud’s, I think their description is incorrect when they list the CZ 75 SA as ambi slide stop, as that is only offered on the 85 models.  I would grab one, the SA models are great and have features unique to the gun.  It’s also discontinued so new ones won’t be around forever.

The model numbers lead me to believe it does in fact have an ambi slide release like the 85, I already have a 91150 SA, the ambi model is 91160.

Never heard of an ambi 75, wonder why it wouldn’t be an 85b SA?

We'll try this one again.  I hit the close on this note instead of a web search on google.....

If I check CZ USA 91160 isn't listed.  A search on the web site with that number gets you nothing.

But, if you do a web search using CZ 91160 you get multiple sellers of a CZ75 with ambidextrous safeties and slide release levers.

If I didn't already have three CZ's with CZ85 type controls I'd be ordering one of these.  The prices ain't bad from some dealers.

Looks like CZ "slipped another in" on all us CZ fans.

Probably ran across boxes/bins of CZ85 slide release levers and CZ75 SA frames and triggers, etc. and decided to use them up.

Interesting, maybe this is why the 75 SA was discontinued and they are adding an ambi slide release.  Still think it should be an 85b SA but I’m sure they had a pile of slides with the 75 SA roll marks already.  Lefties should jump all over these

Fellow on one of the FB pages just picked one up, here is a picture.  Just like an 85 you won’t be able to do away with the ambi slide stop without modification that wouldn’t be worth it.

I don't know of any gun maker that does all the swapping of features like CZ.

Nothing wrong with the ambidextrous slide release.  If you're left handed you can use it, if you're right handed you can ignore it - unless you need to shoot/operate it left handed.

While the hole in the outside of the frame is larger to accommodate the right side release lever, remember there is another section of frame inside (on the other side of the slide release retention spring) that is just as thick and has a hole the size of the shaft on the left side slide release lever.

I've seen pictures of guns (competition CZs) with the left side slide release lever cut off to only the shaft and the head of the shaft remain.  I imagine you could to the same thing to the right side slide release lever if you just really hated it and couldn't stand the looks of it.

Or you could just look for a standard CZ75SA.  I still see new P07 DUTY pistols at gun shows every now and then.  How long has it been since CZ made the old DUTY version?
