PCR Opinions
« on: October 08, 2019, 11:01:23 AM »
As some of you may have seen in my videos, I have a full-size CZ75 that I really like. Lately, I've been eyeing a PCR at a nearby gun shop. It's a brand new pistol, so I can't fire it. I was hoping some of you who have experience with the PCR can let me know what you think of them.

Thank you,
Howard

You know about the grip and natural feel of pointing at target by holding it. It is also accurate without a failure out of box shooting 500 rounds. The sights could/should be upgraded and the DA trigger pull is excessively heavy, IMO, and could/should be lightened. I sent mine to Louisiana, when it returns I expect the best carry weapon in my collection if printing is of little concern or wearing heavy shirt.

Beretta Pico, Walther PPS original is a close second but limited mag capacity, Kahr PM9 and though I like each of these they have their unique attributes but if truly needed I'd rather have the PCR in my hand.

I love my PCR! Shoot it as well as any weapon I have. Good OWB carry, especially in cooler weather under a jacket.
I did upgrade the sights to the Dawson tritium night sights and had Cajun gun works do a pro package on the trigger.
That makes for a fairly pricey handgun but at that point you'd have a hard time finding a better companion at any price.
Mountaineers are always free.

Thank you both! I like the way the PCR feels and points. I'm also not too worried about printing. Half the time I don't have my handgun concealed in the first place, and I prefer outside the waistband carry.

I have had many pistols over the years and will likely have many more before I'm done but the one pistol I've carried for the last 10 years now is my PCR and I will NEVER part with it. For me it is the perfect balance in size/concealability and magazine capacity. The PCR is laser accurate and mine has been flawlessly reliable with around 14,000 rounds fired now.

I've had one for a short while.   It is a great shooting gun, reliable so far and accurate.  And it is a good looking, well-balanced gun.  :D

I wasn't crazy about the sights that came with it, so had CGW install the 310-230 Dawson Precision Tritium Night Sights.  These are excellent.   :)

I know grips are a totally subjective thing, but I added LOK thin G-10 grips -- which I think are great.  They seem to help the hand grip the gun high, snug into the beavertail, and to pull the thumb in nicely to support the grip.  Like I said, its highly subjective, but I love them.   :D

The advertising material and CZ web page say the gun has a 14 round capacity, but mine came with two magazines marked to hold 15 rounds -- which they do comfortably. ;D

My PCR seems to have a heavy (strong) recoil spring, which I attribute to it having a lighter (because shorter) slide than a full-size CZ-75.   For me, it is a little harder to rack the slide than my CZ-75BD, which is easy to rack despite the somewhat smaller purchase area on a CZ slide (compared to most outside-rail slides on typical semi pistols).  If you have problems racking some of the harder slides out there, give the PCR a check before you sign for it.  (And of course it will loosen up a bit as it wears in over the first couple hundred rounds). ::)

Good luck with getting one -- its a fine weapon, as others have noted.

Do all PCRs have that loaded chamber indicator? That's the one thing I can't stand. My EDC is a P01 with an olight pl-mini and I love it.

Yes the PCR all have the LCI and that's the one thing about it I don't care for either. Of course I don't like the rail on the P-01 either.

Awesome; it won't disappoint.

You should talk with the fine folks at CGW, too.

the PCR is a "do it all" pistol imo. range, edc and hd. the only knocks on it are the sights [of course] they really suck. and with me, the trigger. I got a serious case of trigger bite with that stock trigger. I replaced it with the RRK from CGW and all was good

Loved my PCR but only have having several upgrades installed by CGW. Initially, I thought the trigger pull was very stout, especially  in DA. The Old Style trigger also aided with shooting, at least for me.

Love the PCR!! I spent $187 to change the sights, trigger and a couple springs through CGW. DA- 8lbs./ SA-4.5. Oh, and some LOK grips. Carry it all day long.

I like my pcr very much. I've only changed the grips and sights. The only reason I dont carry it yet is because I havent found a leather owb for it I like. It's my gf favorite pistol I own. She currently carries it.

Am very impressed with the PCR. I’ve had mine cajunized to include sight change and hard chromed. Nice looking, accurate gun.

Will agree w/ others about the factory sights- not the best and with the sight cut, not a whole lot of options- some, but not a lot.
Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

I’m digging that old style trigger.  I’m a fan of a flatter trigger.
