P-01 omega vs regular trigger?
« on: October 14, 2019, 01:44:06 PM »
I’m considering purchasing a P-01 as my next gun. It’s a very appealing gun and I feel I have to try one out. My big question is whether or not to choose the omega trigger or regular trigger? I like the flat trigger and decock lever better on the omega. But from what I’m seeing most of CGW kits aren’t for the omega, is it a harder system to modify? Is the omega or the regular the better option? I may upgrade the trigger system down the road depending on how much I like it or not.

If you will upgrade then regular otherwise to me the omega is much better out of the box

the decocker on the omega pivots differently than the straight decocker version.  I prefer the egonomics of how my straight P-01BD decocker pivots to the rear instead of to the front on the omega.  But I am still waiting on my DA trigger to smooth out.

What’s the reasoning for going with the original if upgrading?

If you are thinking about upgrading to Omega anyway, just go with Omega out of the box.
I don't see any problems finding parts from CGW (perhaps you need something particular).
Omega has much less complicated action and is very easy to be adjusted by yourself.

From outside perspective - just preference, different decocker, different hammer shape. Omega has also decocker on both sides and can be switched to safety.

can the omega be set up with decocker/safety on one side instead of ambi?

if i ever carry it, I would prefer my right-handed configuration over ambi controls.

I don't think you can make it one side only. Perhaps CGW or CZ-Custom have some magic parts for this.
Like I mentioned - that's personal preference, however practice shooting with your other hand may save your life one day...

All my CZ triggers are stock. I have 2 Omegas and 3 standard trigger CZs., including a P-01 of each variety. Personally, I prefer the Omega trigger, but only because the flatter trigger is more comfortable to me. After about 250 rounds with the standard trigger in a range session, I'm done. However, I can shoot the Omega triggers well beyond 300 rounds without any discomfort. Pretty sure both trigger types can be upgraded.

Good point, I only practice left-handed with my ccw LCR, and even then probably less than half of my range trips.

More relevant to the manual safety ("cocked and locked") than with the decocker version.

but if I were to carry the safety version, would probably carry it hammer down with the safety off, for a DA/SA action.  which I'm considering for a Rami in the future.

I’m leaning towards an omega. The only foreseeable upgrade I may do is a reduced reach kit (I have small hands) or maybe the ultra lite kit for the DA pull. Depends on my thoughts after some rounds down range. The hard part is finding an omega P-01. I live in Ny so I need 10rd mags. I’ve found plenty of omega P-01’s with 14rd but finding 10rd versions is proving hard.

I have both the original P-01 and the Omega. The original only has several rounds down the pipe. Cajun Gun Works advertises the 75700 Omega kit as the means to elevate the Omega P-01 to world class. This is not an exaggeration in my estimation. Send it to them..

The trigger comes out better than the omega after modifying

I prefer the decocker in the P-01
vs the Omega decocker.  Have no use for the safety.

I have a PCR and a P01 Omega. Both will serve you fine.  CGW can make an Omega sing, just as they can with a standard P01- both my guns have been to CGW and I couldn’t be happier.

That said, even with CGW’s 85trigger installed on my PCR, I slightly prefer the Omega. The trigger shape and the ergos of the decocker work for me and my hand size/ shooting style.

If starting all over and I could only have one and I wasn’t going to upgrade with CGW or CZC , I’d go with the Omega.

Again- you can’t go wrong with either.

I have a full CGW Omega P-01. I prefer the Omega decocker and the factory flatter trigger. Trigger pulls at 3 lb SA 7 lb DA with full CGW kit, similar to regular P-01 with CGW kit.
