I still prefer the old style steel guns like a 75B and 97B"E", also. But those are no longer competitive commercially so the polymer guns were developed. Then to cut costs further, the striker fired polymer guns were developed. My opinion is that the target consumer for the P10 series guns may not have ever shot a 75B, much less a 97B, but may be familiar with a Glock or another polymer service pistol. The P10 can compete against other polymer pistols just fine in my opinion.
But, I have to admit, the more I shoot the polymer guns, especially the P10, the more I like it. The P10S was a pleasant surprise to me, as to how well I could shoot it right out of the box. Some time with the larger P10 guns helped, of course.
But, I'm all for sticking with what you like and with what you shoot well, whether it is a CZ, Sig, or even a Glock. They are all fun to me as a hobbyist. I just like the challenge of shooting a lowly service pistol rather than a custom match gun. The polymer CZ service pistols seem to be built extremely well mechanically, so I get surprisingly good results out of them, especially after adding some Sugru and JB-Weld. The guns aren't fancy. I'm not fancy.
