But more of the slide sits above the frame. If you line up the frames where the slides ride, you'll see the barrel sits higher. May be a mute point because of the 9mm caliber. Are they going to offer it in 10mm, .38 super, and .45? Or have they said anything about caliber offerings yet?

The bore axis/barrel height difference is a myth. There's a good diagram posted on Benos in the DWX thread.
Dont hold your breath for other calibers. This gun is aimed at the competitive shooting market, specifically USPSA Limited(.40cal). The 9mm would work well in 3gun and Steel Challenge and leaves the possibility for 9 Major in Open class.

Nice!! Wouldn't mind having one. Like I said 2 favorites. Wouldn't mind competing myself but not sure with my leg. I think I'll look into local competitions. Find out what I can. Need new glasses first lol!! Wish I could get a new leg or just have it lopped off for a prosthesis.

You could try Steel Challenge. Only one out of 8 stages requires movement, and it's only a couple steps. The other 7 are shot from a static position. It's a lot of fun!

Thanks for that. I love to shoot. Better with rifle than pistol. Was expert in army. Thought about joining rifle team but things happen. Took basic, intermediate, and advanced sniper in army. Nothing like they teach real snipers. Just basics at each level. Like rappelling. There's normal rappel, quick rappel, then advanced Australian rappel. You come down face first. It's a trip. You learn the basics and time, experience, and continuing education builds an master.

That picture is also posted in this thread.  But what it doesn't take into account is where you can hold the guns and you can get a higher hold on the CZ.

Looking forward to YouTube reviews as well. Going to be sweet I bet. Need to sell chopper and buy one. Like the colors as well. Wonder if they'll offer other color combos? Most the time weapon manufacturers need time to see what customers are doing and there's a lag for them to catch up, it they ever do. I've had a kimber full size .45, can't remember specific model. But it was a beauty. Shot really well especially for .45. Had military colt and the kimber was in another world.

God I want one of these.

Yes, you can hold a little higher, but the bore axis is still virtually the same.

I saw this on the 1911 forum from Keith at DW. Good info.

--------------------
Good morning DW people. I have held off commenting until the compact was introduced and I know you have lots of questions.

Please be sure to visit our website, as many of your questions can be answered there.

We are very excited to bring you the DWX product line, this is just the beginning. It has been two years in the making and we could not get it out soon enough.

We plan to start making deliveries first quarter on 9mm's.

Some things that are not listed that should be noted. As per all Dan Wesson's' there are no MIM parts in these guns. Any parts that were shared with CZ were upgraded, with exception to springs, pins and rear sights and magazines.

The Compact ships with a single sided safety however we do have ambi's available and the safeties are interchangeable between the full size and compact, just like single stack 1911. The full size ships with an ambi and single sided safeties available.

The mag release is specific to the gun however, both are ambidextrous.

The compact grip is the same size as a compact CZ-75 however, we designed the gun to use full size 75 magazines. This makes the gun just a little larger than the ECO with the ability to hold 15 rounds with a flush magazine.

If you live in a less than free state, like myself, 10 round versions will become available.

Triggers are similar to a 2011 trigger however are specific to the model, we will have many additional colors, lengths and shapes available to suit your needs.

Holsters should also be available at time of release.

2 pistols came out of this years shot show, one needs to become more than a limited offering before I will buy one.

But this pistol, will be the first steel CZ I want bad. The thing that has kept me from buying steel CZ mags, is my P09 mags wouldn't work in them.

Now we have a steel framed gun that not only works with my P09 mags, but has barrel lock up like a P09 which means it will be a tack driver.

I WANT THIS PISTOL BAD!

This is confusing, are they saying that it is “designed” to rake full size mags at the standard 17 rd capacity, or that it is “designed” to take compact mags at 15 rds but can take full size mags like most other CZ compacts? Also anybody heard of any updates on a release date yet?

4th Quarter 2020, if we are lucky. WuFlu shutting down NY did a number on DW production for the year.
