New CZ 75B SA
« on: November 04, 2019, 08:39:33 PM »
While my short-rail will blow the middle out of a 1" sticker at 10 yards, she's a rare piece and I don't want to put her through a lot of abuse.

So, I did what any sensible person would do and ordered a CZ75B as a shooter - in S/A because I've almost literally never bothered with D/A on CZs. My other excuse is that it's my citizenship-gift to myself...

The trigger needs some work but she'll do.

Congrats on the citizenship [emoji631], great choice.  I shoot my SA much better than my short rails, mainly because the SA has a full beavertail and I don’t have to adjust my grip to avoid hammer bite. Love the SA 75’s

They are pretty pistols.

Consider an aftermarket hammer from CGW or CZ Custom.  Think about an adjustable sear from CGW to save time/trouble of working on the front leg/arm of the sear or the cam on the left side safety shaft to get the safety to work with that new hammer.

And there's that CGW match barrel bushing if your pistol needs it.  Not all of them do, but you run across one sometimes that can benefit from it.

My youngest son has four or five center fire semi auto pistols.  He takes two to the range.  His CZ75 SA 9MM and his P07 9MM.  He shoots a group out of the P07 (his concealed carry pistol) and then gives the CZ75 SA a work out.  When I ask why he just keeps shooting the CZ75 SA he says, "But dad, you know I just like shooting small groups."
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

These pistols don’t need any aftermarket parts to be a great shooter. My CZ75B SA has a 4.25 trigger and the accuracy is very good. I did add the Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight. Only my Ruger 1911 Target in 9mm shoots better with less felt recoil.

No, they sure don't - but I'm an inveterate tinkerer and like to improve things for me where necessary.

With that said, I'm going to shoot her first and see what she might actually need - same as I do with 1911s.

Congrats on your new SA.  They're a great pistol.
One part you might consider is a trigger with adjustable pre-travel as either
an aftermarket part, or a modified stock trigger.  Provides a big improvement
for very little money.  CZC has them.

Thank you - and yes, I'm looking into that as well as the hammer/adjustable sear kit from CGW, but I'm going to shoot her first before making any changes.

Something I didn't know until this morning, but I just assumed all SA models come with an ambi slide-stop like mine; seems that they don't so I had to email my custom holster-maker and let him know what I have... weird. I wonder why they just didn't call it the 85B SA ...

Older SA's didn't have the ambi slide stops.  They seem to have shown up recently with some dealers even though CZ discontinued the SA in the US last year.  Hopefully CZ will continue bringing them in
but it's not clear if they just  built a one time batch of guns.  If so, you'll own a rare model.

Shot 120 rounds through her yesterday - very accurate and reliable (as expected) but the trigger has an annoying ledge just before she breaks. I was shooting 1" orange stickers at 15 yards.
