P10C Gens
« on: November 05, 2019, 03:17:36 PM »
I've been away from the P10C for a while. How many "generations" have there been now? Which parts have been changed / updated?

Hard to tell about generations. However if we use this terminology we have 3 gen of CZ-P10C.
Gen1 - original manufactured in Czech,
Gen2 - manufactured in Czech, fixed rear face plate issues
Gen3 - CZ-USA, first version had ambi fixed magazine release button (two side button), new version (currently manufactured) has swapable mag release button (one side button)

I may have missed something... hopefully we will have more info from other users.

As far as I know the striker rotation was fixed that was happening to earlier models. Identified by the notch in the slide back plate.
They also switched from a ambi mag release to a reversible. Not sure if night sights are standard now. My 2018 FDE came with night sights.

There aren't any official gens.  You can have later "gen2" serial guns with a mix of "gen1" parts.  The only way to ensure you have the latest version is to find one with a reversible mag release button.

CZ rolled out a series of changes after the initial release.  The first part that was updated was the front locking block.  A metal tab was added to prevent the slide stop spring from popping out.  They also radiused the the bottom rear corners of the block where some trigger bars were rubbing.

Some people had ambi-mag releases where the mags would stick if the button was held in tightly.  CZ removed a little material from the back edge of the catch.

The next major change was a square notch cut into the slide to prevent the striker housing from rotating and allowing the cover plate to drop down and hang on the back of the rails as shown below.

Here's the square notch to the right of the cover plate.

Fortunately, older models can be updated.  The front locking block is a straight swap, the mag release catch can be fixed with a few file strokes or sandpaper, and Primary Machine can cut old slides to use the new striker housing for $60.

However, the latest change is the switch from the ambi-release to the reversible release.  The frames are molded differently so there is no way to convert one to the other.

That was excellent information. Thank you. I think I'm going to get the optic ready model. Are the newest model strikers still in need of the CGW striker?

Not sure.  In my sample size of 3 I've haven't broken a striker.  The CGW 10320 striker does drop the break weight significantly over the 10300 or OEM though.

Good post earlan357. Also when they updated the locking block didn’t the bevel the bottom of the slide back plate for about 6 months before CZ released the grooves slide. David

Can add that the P10c OR front night sight is bigger than the one on my gen 1 FDE.
