It is interesting that much of the discussion in this thread is centered around the Staccato. They are very nice guns.
I’ll never own any gun made by STI/Staccato. For the price they charge, I’d rather have one custom made by reputable gun smiths.

There’s a reason they change their name.

 :o ???
STI cost me $1,999, then the same firearm under Staccato name cost me $1,999....  Huge price change...  :)
Yes, they make more expensive versions... but it seems to be a common practice for every manufacturer....

You need to go to a competition shooters forum like the Enos forum so you can read up on STI/Staccato warranty service.

By the way, as long as you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters. Hopefully it’ll last awhile without the slide cracking  O0.

Interesting feedback.
I've never looked into a custom smith to build a double stacked 9mm. Not sure what that would cost.

I heard they changed their name because they have shifted from custom competition guns to duty guns.
With the custom guns people run their guns extremely hard (100k+ rounds), customize them like crazy and it made warranty a large undertaking.

Nevertheless, I've had the opportunity to handle and shoot a Staccato P Duo. I love the gun. Super accurate. Fit and finish is awesome. It does make me wonder what a custom smith would produce as it's hard for me what I'd get for the same price. But then I've never researched what $2400 will get me.

Yes, I know... but I'm not competition shooter. These are my a defensive tools.
As Underwhere mentioned - STI was more competition firearm company. Staccato focuses on duty pistols.
So far guys from U.S Marshal SOG don't complain on the firearm's quality. I'm counting on their words.  :)

Anyway... this thread is about DWX.... but .... there is no DWX yet...  :-\ O0

That's unfortunate, as I find myself with a hankerin' for a new race gun, I love 1911's, and one of the best targets I ever shot was with a friend's CZ-75B.  So the DWX looked like it might be my dream pistol.  Plus red is my favorite color  ;D

Hopefully you are patient enough.... otherwise go with 2011. You can replace a grip module for a red one.  ;)

I know, right?  First world problems

Problem there is, with nothing coming out of CZ/DW even hinting at a possible availability time-frame, I've no idea how patient I'll have to be.

I went through something similar after the EOTech thing.  After sending my EOTech optics back I waited and waited and waited and waited for Vortex to get their new holographic site to market.  When they finally did it was, to me, a massive disappointment.  I'm disinclined to fall into that trap again.

Heh. Not certain what I'm going to do at this point.

I may just talk to my local "1911 guy," ask him "If you were going to build a 1911 race gun on a budget, what would you start with?"  Get that, have him tune it, add extended controls, and a Stan Chen mag well funnel.

Or get a CZ TS 2 and replace the blue grip panels with red ones :)

This thread started in early 2019 and it's now the end of 2021.  I wish DW would at least communicate something with the market.  I'll even take another teaser at this point.  I just want to feel like they are still engaged and moving forward, even if it's slower than I like.

Wow, this thread has been dragging along for over two years.....and still no DWX Compacts shipped??
Has anyone actually received a production DWX Compact?? (besides marketing samples)

Maybe it got sucked down into the Colt vortex.

Maybe we'll hear something at Shot 2022??

Oh Pleeease.

They haven't been seen in the wild yet. Who knows maybe this year. Maybe never.

I think we'll still see the DWX released at some point - I haven't given up hope. Honestly, it's still about the only 9mm pistol that has my interest st this point.
