Recently purchased a P-01 omega, do regular p-01 holsters fit?
« on: November 27, 2019, 11:43:20 PM »
So I have been looking for a light bearing holster for my omega, but most sites do not list this version. Will a Omega fit in a Kydex/Hybrid holster for an P-01?

I got mine from T5 custom and theirs do and it also fits my PCR, I’m not sure they all do tho. Mine has some little reliefs on both sides for the safety or decocker levers that works for both PO1 models.

That helps some. Several of the manufactures have a no return policy on the holster so before I drop $100+ on something I want to make sure its good to go!

Omega refers to the internal action of the pistol.Externally they are the same.

I bought a light bearing P01 holster (PL Mini) from White Hat Holsters for my P01 Omega.

The P01 has a decocker on the left side of the frame.  The P01 Omega, as I carry/use it, has ambidextrous safeties.  The standard P01 holster I bought would move the safety to the fire position due to interference between the kydex and thumb safety on the left side of the pistol.

Once I figured out why it was ready to fire every time I pulled it out of the holster it was easy to fix.  I used a heat gun and a common screwdriver to put a sort of "slot/notch" in the kydex on the right side to lock that safety in the safe position.  Quick and easy, sitting on the bench in front of my garage with the unloaded P01 Omega to use while "adjusting" the kydex to get it to do what I wanted (hold the safety on the right side in the safe position.)

It didn't take much.  Just a small notch/bulge in the kydex to capture the position of the safety (in safe) and hold it there.

Other holsters might not cause that problem.  The problem may not be there with decockers installed.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

The most important difference between P-01 and P-01 OMEGA is the shape of decocker. Omega has its levers (decocker or safety) facing FORWARD, so not all P-01 holsters can handle it.
There is also lever on RIGHT side, which may not fit regular holster.
Anyway, there are few holsters which fits BOTH models, but it has to be specified by manufacturer. Do not buy without questioning first.
I bought FOBUS holster (plastic OWB) which is made for both models.
You have to do research and ask every manufacturer if OMEGA is not listed.
I don't remember the list, but I've got about 10 responses from different manufacturers that they can or cannot mold their Kydex holsters for Omega.
Good luck !

I have had my eye on the white hat as I have been wanting to try a hybrid holster to see the difference of comfort level between just kydex and adding leather.  I went and ordered a "cheaper" but specific holster to carry until I can get all my interested manufacturers to answer my questions sometime after the holiday. I have a feeling that a leather or hybrid holster might be my best bet.

I was told that P-01 Omega fits P-07 holster. Following this lead I've found my OWB holster  :D

The MicroTuck from White is what I am leaning towards. Its a good combo of quality and price, just wish it had the mag pouch like the A119 Coyote from Falco Holsters.

Did you choose "P-01/P-06 ALL VARIANTS" or "P-07/P-09" ?
I'm wondering if "all variants" also includes OMEGA... Hopefully they mold holster correctly for safety/decocker.
Let us know once you get it !

Haven't pulled the trigger on the holster yet. I have narrowed it down to the White Hat Microtuck(light bearing but no mag pouch) or the High Noon Dually Lite(mag pouch not light bearing).
The option I have set for the White Hat is the P-01 and variants while the High Noon actually had a P-01 with Ambi decocker as a choice.

P-01 with Ambi decocker as a choice.
This might be tricky. Who knows what do they mean by "ambi decocker"... remember that Omega has decocker and safety facing forward, when regular P-01 has decocker facing back and that's the main problem with holster - it may have no room for Omega's lever.

Ended going with a Hunt Ready Holster from Ebay. It was set up for the Omega with the mag pouch, but no light bearing like I wanted. I am still waiting on some of the vendors to get back to me on some questions about compatibility.
HRH looks to be a good choice. The holster has a great feedback from users.

Ambi decocker is the Omega. It means the decocker is on both sides. The original P01 doesn’t have a ambi decocker
