I don't particularly care for the curved trigger the Phantom has
If I buy one I don't plan on keeping it in there for long.
Out of curiosity is that slide lighter than the 75b? It looks like they sure took a lot of metal off the sides. I’ve debated picking up one of these too. The Omega system is exactly like you said, it left me a little disappointed after putting in a bunch of work on it. I hope you get it, please share what you do to it [emoji3]

the phantom slide is lighter then the 75b.  In all honestly, I shoot the 75b better because of it's trigger.  Whenever I get around to replacing the trigger on the phantom, I will be able to get a better comparison between the two. I think the phantom is more versatile just because it's lighter.  The 75b is a little heavy to conceal carry.

I got too impatient for waiting on the auction to end and bought one already. But there is a used Phantom with what appears to be a CGW Pro Kit (or at least CGW hammer and CGW trigger at a minimum) up for auction. Anything under ~$600 would be a steal.

Impatient? ??? .....what took so long! ;D   Pretty sure you'll enjoy the Phantom, if it had a better profile trigger it could almost pass as good for being stock....but the recurved trigger is horrible IMO

I picked up a Cajunized P-01 from a buddy at the range about 12 months back and it ruined my life.  Not really.

Since then my safe has been in constant turmoil.  Out with the XD's that I swore more than once and on more than one stack of Bibles that I would never sell; In with DA/SA decocking CZ75's.  I have a fully cajun-tuned P-01 of my own now and use it for EDC.  I am very happy with it.  As for Phantoms, I read everything I could to decide between the SP-01 Tac and the Phantom and in the end weight won the day.  Since the plan for it included the new dual output XH35 weapon light and a Delta Point, weight was a legit factor.

My Phantom is on the bench now in Louisiana and I cannot wait to get it back.  I put about 600 rounds through it while I waited for my ship window to CGW.  The Phantom just points well for me.  Same as the P-01 did that started this insane past year.  I swore by my handguns prior.  They rode with me to many shoots, matches, every day BS, etc.  I tuned all the triggers, upgraded all the sights, added lights and lasers and optics and holsters, etc.  The full-on sickness.  I was all set.  As much as I was in love with my former SA arsenal and as "done" as I was insofar as being a potential handgun or handgun accessory targeted customer for some considerable time,  I can happily report a full transformation without a single second thought.

Glock was never really a player for me so I cannot speak to the 17 that a lot of people try to compare the Phantom to.  I have a G43 because it is an ultra concealable 9 that isn't too snappy.  I was impatient waiting for the XDS mod 2 so I bought the popular Glock.  Currently the little Glock has a lot done to it incl. a slide melt fitted JPoint and a decent trigger job, but I still cannot bring myself to work with it enough to feel really comfortable.  By comparison the XDS mod 2 (when it finally released) shot like a dream literally out of the box it was shipped to me in.  Such is my experience with Glock.  From here forward, if I have a firearm need I am looking to the CZ offerings first and their lines have earned first right of refusal for my business.

Wanted one some time ago, then got into the P series.

I don't like the super-curved triggers - unless you have skinny fingers, it is not comfortable shooting.

The gun is based on a full steel heavy framed gun now made in polymer - it is likely that the P09 is softer shooting given a slightly heavier slide and more modern recoils system.

On the plus side, the dual sided trigger bar can make a smoother action in DA.

On the downside, I hate the decocker and the problems from it in detail stripping to work on the gun.

You can get triggers that don't have such an extreme curve.

Phantom has the standard 75 series trigger, which is leaps and bounds better than the Omega system. That isn't even up for debate. A 75 series trigger with CGW or CZC parts is soooo much nicer in every single way than an Omega trigger with the same work done. 75 series will have a much more crisp SA break, much shorter reset, much less pre SA pre travel, and smoother DA.

As for recoil. I finally got to shoot a Phantom Monday. It's a way smoother shooting and feeling gun than my P-09's IMO.
I have always said that the P-09 is without a doubt the best polymer full size gun on the market. I don't think that's the case now that I've been able to shoot a Phantom. While I only got to shoot a few mags through it, I think it's -the- must own full size polymer 9mm.

And decocker > safety any day for me.

I have two P07s which have better triggers than one of my PreBs - which is an 75.  So, they are not all so much better.  NO DOUBT, if you tune the 75 system it can get better than a P series.  But OTB, not necessarily so.  Also, I've seen cleaner breaks on most Pguns OTB.  The problem with the Phantom is the decocker,  Having that blasted thing makes working on the gun much harder.

My guns don't stay as they come out the box, so out the box comparisons don't mean much to me. ;)

With CGW Pro Kit, the Phantom will obliterate the Omega trigger with Pro Kit easily in every category.

I pro kitted mine before even firing a shot since I had already done a couple kits on my p series guns. Upgrade the sights with the adjustable version from cz customs as the original sights are pretty small. I am sure you will have it reddotted before too long and won't need adjustable sights. It is much lighter than the p09 with the lightened slide. Almost wonder how it would feel with a regular sp-01 slide.

I'll have a Trijicon RMR on it before I ever shoot it. ;)

My guns never stay completely stock either. But needing to replace the trigger is not a plus and dealing with the decocker on the SP01 system to me is a pain.  Don't get me wrong there are some positive elements of the SP01 and the dual bar 75 CAN be better once you work on it.  I also don't like the placement of the SP01 decocker as it gets in the way of a high thumbs grip - not a show stopper, just annoying.

I'd love to shoot the Phantom side by side with the P09.  Most threads I read say that the P09 shoots softer than even the all steel SP01.  However, finding a range with all the CZ hammer guns is nearly impossible so its hard to do this.

But, I am sometimes tempted to get a Phantom.

But one difference is clear:  fully customizing the P series is almost trivial.  The SP01 with decocker is not.

After an amazing outing with my P09 yesterday, I just don't need a Phantom - the P09 wants to shoot the same place no matter how fast I shoot.

I don't think anybody is really trying to convince you. The group of people that prefer the omega system is growing, that's why CZ makes both. I had a fully worked over P-09 and didn't care for it.

I own several worked over Omega guns. They're ok. CZ 75 trigger with CGW or CZC parts is better in every way.
Trigger aside, the P-09 is an amazing shooting gun in terms of accuracy and ergos IMO. But the trigger is still a weak point to me.
I installed the CGW 10X bushing, cut the barrel flush with bushing and deep crowned it. Also milled it for an RMR and forward irons as well as added front serrations and other misc slide work.
It's going out to CJ Maven tomorrow for him to do the Pro Kit install as I don't have time to mess with it any time soon.
Just gotta send barrel to nitride and that'll be a wrap once it's back from CJ.
