Who makes a red dot sight mounting plate for P-07?
« on: December 17, 2019, 07:26:34 PM »
Would like to try a red dot sight on my P-07, but don’t want to go the optics-ready slide route. Does anyone make a mount that can be set in the existing dovetail for the rear sight?

From what I understand putting a mounting plate in the dovetail makes the RDS sit quite a bit higher may not be ideal for CCW. I have a 09 that the slide was milled by primary machines and has a Vortex Viper. Extremely tight fit in the slide, I highly recommend going this route.

These guys make one it seems. I understand wanting to "try" it if by chance ya didn't like it you can go back easy enough. I went with the Primary Machine optics cut and LOVE it,, but then my eyes @ 65 need all the help they can get, LOL PM does great fast work but there are others out there also. Give the mount a try and get back at us and let us know how it works for ya.

I have a Holosun 507c on a Ruger MkII using an EGW adapter. They have RMR and DPP plates for the CZ pistols.

I just hate to permanently modify a gun part. I would consider a new milled slide if such were available...

Once you got red dot, you don't go back. Milling is superior and I've yet to find someone who regretted having their slide milled for a quality red dot.

Yea that's what I'm thinking! I will say I probably spent more $$$ than I should of because I found a 07 Slide "complete" for sale in the Classifieds & that's the one I sent out to be machined. I did that because "if" I decided I didn't like it I could always switch back to the original slide. Now that I have done it I love it and see no reason to switch back, but with that said I have the original slide if I ever decide to sell the gun or just want to put it back on for a range session or two, kinda the best of both worlds!

I have a Sig P320 C that came with a Romeo 1 Red Dot sight. Being milled out for this sight is optimal, however my 1st Romeo 1 failed after first shot. I sent it After reading several early horror reviews on the Romeo 1 I sent the site back to Sig for repair or replacement. While waiting for them to answer I got antsy after reading multiple horror story reviews and bought a Trijicon SRO. I had to order an adapter plate that made it sit on top the slide. It was doable but would have been optimal if it sat into the recess. I personally would not want it sitting even higher on-top a plate  that sat on-top the slide for two reasons.
a. being too high for my likes
b. Their are enough forces being put on screws that are holding a plate that the front and rear edges are beveled to be held down by the slides beveled ends with plate mounting screws near the back end but it would be a bit more forces on a plates mounting screws at the rear end where the dovetail are in the smaller area where rear sight fits. Keep in mind, those are just my thoughts and I am no engineer by any means so if anyone knows different and has indeed used this method with a decent amount of round to show please let me know and I might try a plate that fits into the rear sight area for holding it in-place.
Always looking up!

Going to try the Springer Precision plate with a Vortex Venom 3 MOA scope. I'll post up pics later.  ;)

That’s a valid point, Having just started down the RedDot rabbit hole, I’m trying to figure out getting the slide on my P-07 milled.. if I want/need BUIS on it, or just do something simple like just having a front sight installed, with no rear, hmmm, decisions,decisions..  The G17 MOS, that I bought  pretty reasonably as a vehicle to try Red Dots on a handgun, convinced me that not only is this concept valid, but it’s very probably the way of the future.. I expect that in the near future (within the next 5 years or so,) that just about every manufacturer will offer pistols with factory milled slides for most of their product line, of course there will be exceptions, like a Beretta 92,  Revolvers,  etc. Frankly, I’m kinda surprised that CZ doesn’t already offer a P-07-09 with a slide already cut for a RDS, Who knows, maybe CZ will surprise all of us at SHOT.

I was among the first to go red dot on a pistol, way back in 2001. I put a DR. Optic with an adapter plate on a Glock 34. It was my everyday carry for years.

I now carry a CZ P07 with a milled slide.

Milled slide looks a lot better, but both are functional and able to work for concealed every day carry.

Went on surprisingly easy, which means of course that the set screws have to do their part.

Very accurate for me, zeroed at about 15 yds. May have to give it a try in competition next year.  ;D

Oh yes, it's on a P-09, not a P-07...

Very nice but yours sits about 3/8 of an inch higher than mine does milled into the slide. I love it.

Yes, it does ride pretty high. I would be glad to substitute a milled slide someday.
