Kadet Front sight height
« on: December 25, 2019, 11:29:55 AM »
Is the Kadet front 5.5mm tall just like all other 75 front sights?

Santa brought me a new Kadet kit and I am thinking I am going to add a FO front to it.

Merry Christmas Todd

There has been quite a bit of controversy here on this very subject
Check-out this thread:
https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=32233.0

"CZ factory pistols (exception is the TS and Kadet which both come with 7.5mm High) are fitted with a 5.5mm High front sight (when measured from the bottom of the sight to the top of the sight, with the sight OUT of the slide).
So the correct sight for a factory gun would be any 5.5mm replacement sight we sell."

Given this; The right Sight is the 7.5mm Front
But I'd say mic your Sight to be sure which one came on your Kit
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Thanks Den.  Same to you.

Sounds like I need to pop it out tomorrow and put the calipers on it.

Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure the Kadet uses a 6.5mm front sight. Somewhere I have the original.

That's what I did, and it worked.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

Maybe...

IIRC I went by a post made by Angus. I never measured my sight. It did work.

Have you fired the kit with the 7.5 mm sight?

My Kadet II kit required a .170" front from Dawson.  (mine has the adjustable rear)

https://dawsonprecision.com/cz-kadet-22-fiber-optic-front-sights/

I ordered the 019-073 (.170"x.100") and it is POA=POI with a Center-Hold sight picture.

I'd fire it and see if you like the type sight picture it gives. There's a ton of adjustment in the rear sight. See what you like and buy whichever one you need.

Mine gave a center hold with a .170 sight. I've moved on to a red dot.

How to calculate a matching front sight

My special-needs teacher here
https://stores.kensight.com/front-sight-height-guide/
got me to understand that i can calculate the height difference for a matching new front sight with the shown formula. Due to my holding and impact point.

I hold my sights under the targets black into the white paper area for the contrast. And, real cause, it was explained to me like that. Meanwhile my convercion kit`s rear sight is completely screwed in direction to up. And the point of impact could still be higher. The white stripe between front sight and target black could be more obvious too, for visual hamonics as wide as the light passing by the front sight vertically. I searched for informations on iron sight adjustment. And if i would need a longer - or shorter front sight to correct the POI. And to get the rear sights centered additionally.
How to adjust an iron sight i found here. I liked that explanation too:
https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/How_to_adjust_an_iron_sight

So in my case i go down with the front sight - install i shorter one. To calculate the new front post height i would have to center my rear sights, go shooting holding my point of aim with the sights, and measuring how much i shoot low. Thats how i understand the theory. To be proofed..
