well the USPSA match was today, but I was not there... I was cleaning the garage (my mess) and getting christmas stuff down. But before that, I was working on my racegun grips and thinking out a good holster setup.
So,, the grips are 90% don on one side, and 20% done on the other. So for now I just used a 3D printed grip on the left side and the right side is the full custom Walnut with finger grooves and a thumb rest. So Basically the left hand side thumb rest part of the grip is setup so that the ext. safety drops into a pocket in the grip. so when going on safe, I will use my trigger finger to swipe the right side safety up/on, then on the draw stroke use the thumb to swipe down and plant on the grip pocket. It simply feels amazing, but I'm biased because of how many hours to get to this point.
The next step is to make a race holster. I figured Id save a couple hundred bucks by buying the DAA race block inser for the SP-01 (kind of a rare find as not many run these in open/limited, but whateves..) I bought a thigh pad as well, so now I just need to form a holster body that will attach the belt clip to the insert block and then hang off the thigh pad. I'm looking at aluminum, angle iron, or just walnut even. I'll also have to keep in mind that the big dot hanging off the left will have to be designed around a bit too, and thus is the reason that I need a new holster in the first place.
Anyone else gone super cheap and rolled their own using just he insert blocks? I'll tor to get some pics up soon.
I also put a LG Singlair stainless steel muzzle break on my 6ARC CMMG AR barrel today-not quite related, but needed a quick win to keep motivated.
Slow run but stay tuned...
