I've shot trapped feral hogs with the 3 FN loadings using my PS90. The 40gr V-max SS197sr will expand or fragment and runs about 2000fps, penetration is inconstant due to bullet performance. The SS198lf (AKA green Tip) is very effective, it tumbles and does a lot of damage, penetration is 13 to 16 inches, runs about 2750fps. This is the Military and police loading. The SS195lf uses the same bullet as the SS108lf but is loaded down. It is effective and does tumble, penetration is 11 to 14 inches, runs 2450fps.
Not sure how this will translate to a pistol, but i suspect the SS198lf will have roughly the same performance as the SS195lf from a PS90.
Elite ammo's Protector series ammo is some very hot stuff The 40gr Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmageddon runs 2750fps and fragments consistently. Their 40gr FBHP Varmageddon expands to double diameter and runs 2675fps, penetrates 14 to 16 inches. The most effective ammo I've tried from Elite is their 45gr Xterminator 45gr Turned Solid Copper Hollow Point. It expands to about double diameter and penetrates 14 to 18 inches, runs 1800fps.
Again I don't know how this will translate to pistol performance, but I suspect the Xterminator and Varmageddon 40gr FBHP would be excellent defense or hunting loads.
