Bren S2 tail plate movement
« on: January 08, 2020, 09:39:33 PM »
Greetings, I am a new Bren S2 owner with a question.

The tail plate which I have installed and extension tube and brace has some wiggle in it, all though it is a small amount, the effect on the brace is very evident.

Could some Bren S2 owners chim in if they have slop in the tail plate.

TIA

Yep, same here.  Interface to receiver is a tad sloppy.

Once you add a AR extension tube and brace, it is worse than an Egyptian made AKM folder. And that's BAD.

Same such a small detail really could taint the opinion of many who would be interested in the platform

Same here. You can snug it up with tape or etc.

If you ever convert it to a rifle or SBR, it looks like the proper folding carbon fiber stock fits snug.

Mine is also horrific.

Its a HUGE detractor and really sloppy on CZ's part.

To say im disappointed is an understatement but I hope my disappointment is alleviated by the way this thing shoots.  I have yet to fire it but people say its fantastic.  I also hold out hope that my disappointment will be tempered by other, aftermarket stock/brace/CZ options.  Im not going to have an AR buffer tube on this thing forever.

I will be SBRing mine and I am assuming/hoping the factory stocks will fit snug.

I’m also disappointed with the play in mine. It makes the firearm feel cheap. I’ve got an ar buffer tube attached to it... I’m hoping CZ comes out with a new adapter to fix this. I’m the meantime I’ve been looking intto ordering one of Dan Haga’s picatinny rail plates.

Is this only a problem with the S, or is it with the MS as well?

It is a problem with Ms models as well.

I fixed mine 90% of the way with layers of packing tape until it was snug. Dan Haga's rear sling delete bracket actually took the rest of the play out of mine, so it's solid now.

I put a foam ear plug into the cup at the bottom of the buffer tube adapter tail plate where the "lower" fits into the tail-plate. That caused some constant pressure from the lower onto the tail plate which pivoted it on its clip/pin, effectively reducing or eliminating most of the play there.

just a cheap, non-permanent "fix" for the wobble for now.

This is simple and genius. Good call

I trimmed down an AR-15 accu-wedge and inserted it at the top of the end plate.  When you slide the end unit on, the wedge stops the wobble.

Dan Haga just released a wobble fix, which is literally just a few washers in varying thicknesses. Or just have a washer already and put it on. Works great!

I took a 1 mm thick washer and slid it across 220 grit few times; works like a charm.
Yes, I used to ride a Jawa....
