Stock Sp-01 Slide on a Shadow 1
« on: January 09, 2020, 03:51:06 PM »
I had my Shadow slide milled for a red dot, and looking to get another slide with standard sights so I can shoot SSP/ESP.  Will a SP-01 slide work on a Shadow?  or will the SP-01  firing pin safety block prevent it from functioning properly?  If so, can I just remove the safety block and make it work?  Thx

Your are correct, you can remove the Firing Pin Block parts from an standard SP-01 slide and run it on your Shadow frame. It will require that you drive out the Firing Pin Retaining Pin in the slide, remove the FPB plunger and spring, then reinstall the FPRP because it is required to retain the Firing Pin from coming out of the slide.

While this will leave a hole in the underside of the rear of the slide where the FPB plunger was located i have never know it to be an issue.

Edit:
Other compatibility issue mentioned below.

Isn't it illegal in IDPA to disable a safety feature?

Yes, it would be illegal. They might not care at a local match but you could never shoot a sanctioned match with it unless you added the firing pin block safety parts to the frame so it functioned correctly.

You could always build a second sear cage with the firing pin block lifter installed and just change sear cages when you change slides.

The hammer on SP01 Shadow ( and TS) is wider than on the Zstandards SP01. You will have use a narrower hammer to make the SP01 slide work on a SP01 Shadow frame. In addition to other work mentioned above.

The CZ Competition hammer will work on the regular 75b slides and the Shadow Slides. Most of the CGW hammers will as well.

Is this hypothetical, or have you seen it work?
