1st Gun - Just bought P10C - trigger noisy?
« on: January 15, 2020, 08:48:29 AM »
Forgive my stupid question if it is, but this is my first handgun purchase.  Shot the P-10C several times at the range along with other polymer compacts and just loved the CZ.  Just got mine yesterday, have yet to take it to the range.  When checking it out, I noticed the trigger is not what I felt in the rental at the range.  I loved the trigger there.  Mine is noisy and you can feel like a scraping or maybe a noisy spring when pulling it and letting it reset.

Is that just a break it in thing?  Or did I get unlucky?

TIA!

The rental likely has several hundred, if not, thousands of rounds through it. Give yours a chance to break-in.

Your pistol straight out of the box just has a preservative oil on it so you should generously lube moving parts before your first outing to the range.  Like mentioned above a well worn range gun will feel different than your NIB pistol. Besides you won’t hear any of that when it goes bang when shooting  8). David

One noise the CZ's do is have ammo that rattles inside the mag. Check that.

But the comments above are also true. These pistols need to be lubed and run in with from 400-1000 rounds. If you can't wait there are instructions on this web site showing the exact parts to polish. My advice is to keep oiling and shooting and see if it doesn't self-right itself.

Hope this helps.

Out of the box, my trigger was a little "springy", solid trigger pull. But after oiling, several dry fires, taking it the range for a few hundred rounds, I'm very happy with the trigger. Very nice feeling when riding the reset, quick comfortable pulls.

Thanks everyone for the responses.  I've found some youtube videos that talk about cleaning and lubing with just a field strip.  Also I see some recommend disassembling the whole thing when cleaning...I watched half of one 30 minute video then wondered if I need to do this.  For the before first time shooting lubing are we just talking the basic field strip cleaning?  Lubing where the slide and frame move together?

Thanks!

In my opinion there is no need to detail strip a brand new gun.

In the beginning mine was just a touch gritty or you could feel an ever slight rubbing when slowly executing the trigger but after many rounds, that is gone.  Btw, all I ever do with a new handgun is field stip and spray down with CLP and wipe down real well and then head to the range.

+1

• The same 5W20 synthetic motor oil you use in the you car will do great.
• 4 slide contact points, barrel bushing, recoil spring rod, and trigger linkage to the striker
• Stay away from using any type grease in the winter

The rubbing sound you're hearing is most likely the striker spring coils rubbing inside the slide's striker channel.  Like Glocks, the striker is retracted as the trigger is pulled.  Since the spring kinks slightly on the striker, the faint "ting" sounds your hear are the coils as they snap over the narrow to wide transition on the striker shaft.  All the internal parts are coated with what feels like parkerizing or black oxide.  It's not very slick, but fortunately breaks in quickly with use.  Just dryfire the snot out of it for an evening and it should smooth up considerably.

My P10C I guess you could say is more noisy than my other striker 9mm’s but to me it just sounds different than my 320 or P365’s or the Glock 19 I had or the M&P I had.

I probably have close to 1500 rounds through the P10C.

The sounds don’t bother me I can’t hear when I shoot it or notice when dry firing. It just the way the gun is.

I wouldn't be at all concerned. I'm new to CZs but I've "Broken-in" many brand new firearms in many different makes. As you put a couple of hundred rounds through 'em, they all smooth-out..or not...(I've had a few that were"Mutts" but what can I expect for $89 ? lol)

CZ inc. has an outstanding warranty and reputation and if, after 300 rounds it still troubles you, just give 'em a call, they'll make it right. The important thing is that you have a reliable firearm that will go boom!, every time you expect it to go boom!.

So, if you have any doubts, just give 'em a call. I believe that they will cover shipping if you are the original purchaser. But exercise her first, you may fall in love on the first mag...(it happens... 8)). -B

My factory trigger was noisy and felt like it was rubbing, which the trigger pin was.  Went with an HBI trigger upgrade and have been vastly happy with that upgrade.  Take a look at related YouTubes.
